About meI'm doing a PhD on the way literary value is created in society. My thesis covers Oprah's Book Club, Harry Potter, the Booker Prize, writers' festivals and Jane Austen cinematic adaptations. I try and use Bourdieu to hold it all together.
About my libraryIdeally, I'd love to embrace simplicity and just borrow books from the library instead of buying them. This competes with my rapacious capitalist desire to own, hoard, and organise.

Saw you liked Trainspotting, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reading my new novel and posting your comments here (as well as on a few other book-related sites). Thought you might like my novel since it's also about a group of disturbed kids and a bit dark. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like. Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:

I just noticed that more than a 3rd of the books in your library are books we share, pretty amazing huh? Also I cant open your homepage for some reason, any idea why? While I am here I will give you a gentle nudge to remind you to send "Highways to a War" off in the post :-)
All the best,

Sorry to be a pain but I just acquired a copy of The Secret River by Kate Grenville and added to my LT. The result was that on my review page all my reviews are now squashed into a little column because your wonderful review of the book uses lots of width (see the following post on talk (http://www.librarything.com/talktopic.ph...). If there is any chance you could take a look at it and see if can be less wide I would much appreciate it.
Thanks, Kevin (dylanwolf)
p.s. By the way what IS that strange picture at the top of your page?
