Why?
Greetings, gangleri!
Is there any way I may obtain a translation of the biography of Alexander Kazimirovich Tolush?
Hi,

I'm just getting back to your comment on Tim's profile concerning the password of your friend. You'll have to ask him to change his password via a password reset email, which he can request (while logged out) through this link: www.librarything.com/lostpassword.php

Otherwise, if he already is signed in (say, he has a password saved into Chrome--which he can find, by the way, in Chrome Settings), and he wants to change his password...: www.librarything.com/changepassword.php

You should send him either of these links, depending on his situation, or, alternatively, he can email me: matt@librarything.com

Kindest regards,
Matt
Hi gangleri,
Please tell me about the biography of the greatest Soviet citizen: Alexander Kazimirovich Tolush.

Sorry it took me so long to respond, but I think you should be ok doing that.

1. It's a stamp honoring UNESCO
2. Organizations can have an author image. It is often a stamp such as this, an image of their headquarters, etc.

I don't know what this Ukrainian stamp has to do with any of UNESCO's books. As an organization UNESCO should not have a "author picture" at all.
Thanks for identifying the language.

(I know little Espeeranto and less

Romanian.)

I havenʻt counted either list, but

you seem, b t w to be one of the

few members who has a longer

list of "Favorite Authors" than I do!
Hey. To allow Munich to have normal events again, I've moved all the non-event events from

to

Thanks,
Tim
Hello, Gangleri ~

I'm swamped with several writing deadlines at the moment, but I had to take time out to say how delighted I am to see the whole "Collaborative" venture you're initiating begin to get underway! That's an endeavor dear to my heart, and one that doesn't easily fit in the existing format of online learning/work groups. I've looked into this fairly deeply, and there are even studies others have done trying to identify the crucial factors that work against such constructive undertakings as this. The human factors and group dynamics involved so easily undermine the ultimate goals. BUT . . . I wholeheartedly support what you're doing, and join you in believing this is a "new wave" that will usher in better ways of moving the grander human causes forward.

With what I'm currently juggling, I'll do my best to get up to speed and try to make it to where all the rest of you are. In the meantime, you know where to reach me.

Thanks for blazing a new trail,

Gene
Iʻm writing to thank you for inviting me

to join the ("viaf...")

group on authority control. But Iʻll decline to

join, the group, because I donʻt think I could

contribute anything.

Iʻm glad, however that there is such a group.

Right now, Iʻm in the midst of an involved discussion of

how the "Recommendations" feature of L T works.

And the ensuiing discussions have taught me

that ignorance of computer terminology is one

of my big weaknesses. (I donʻt e ven know

what "viaf" s tands for.)

I also greatly appreciate your work toward

adding languages -- notably Esperanto--

to L Tʻs listing.
שלום־עליכם
Thanks for inviting me to Yiddish Library Thingers, but my negligible knowledge of Yiddish means I wouldn't be any use:(
Kia ora, Gangleri,

Thanks for your inivation to join

the Maori Language Group. Iʻm

not really fluent in Maori, or in any

Pacific languages exc ept Hawaiian,

Tongan, and a smatteing of Melanesian

Pidgin. But Iʻm interested inall

the Polynesian languages. maori

and Tahitian I can get some idea of,

when the vocabulary is related to Hawaiian.
The Fieldmouse

~Cecil Frances Alexander

Where the acorn tumbles down,
Where the ash tree sheds its berry,
With your fur so soft and brown,
With your eye so round and merry,
Scarcely moving the long grass,
Fieldmouse, I can see you pass.

Little thing, in what dark den,
Lie you all the winter sleeping?
Till warm weather comes again,
Then once more I see you peeping
Round about the tall tree roots,
Nibbling at their fallen fruits.

Fieldmouse, fieldmouse, do not go,
Where the farmer stacks his treasure,
Find the nut that falls below,
Eat the acorn at your pleasure,
But you must not steal the grain
He has stacked with so much pain.

Make your hole where mosses spring,
Underneath the tall oak's shadow,
Pretty, quiet harmless thing,
Play about the sunny meadow.
Keep away from corn and house,
None will harm you, little mouse.
'ch gloib der arbeter ring hobn oychet bicher.
my yiddish is not very good. and i have no idea how to spell it with latin script.
but surf around the workmen's circle.
part of their mission is to preserve yiddishkeit.
http://www.circle.org/

maybe someday i will get around to adding the yiddish books i have to library thing. i have a small collection of old books, some were published by the workmen's circle.

you are using both the national yiddish book center's bookstore and also their digital reprint catalog? they have everything.
Thanks for starting the Yiddish group. A shaynem dank.
