About meThese are all my books. Not a huge collection by LibraryThing standards, but a much-treasured one. (I actually have a grand total of something like 1200 books in my house at the moment, because I sell used books online.)

Mostly I don't collect books just to have them. If I keep a book it means I intend to keep coming back to it. I re-read books to pieces, including some of the reference books. (I have a particular fondness for reference books, only partially explained by my background in librarianship.)

I had a vague idea that I was going to learn something about myself by cataloging and tagging my books...that I would get a sort of tag-cloud image of who I am. The results were inconclusive, but I did learn a few things. I found out that I like funny stuff. I didn't realize I had so much of what I consider literature. I thought I had more books about music. I thought art would score a little higher, too.

Then there's the cookbooks. Why do I have so many? I don't actually enjoy cooking all that much. However, I do bake cookies in December, and I like to consider a bunch of new recipes every year before making the same cookies I always make.

Reading you sell books makes me want to know if you have access to a Kentucky History book I really want. It is Kentuxky History Edition i by Battle, Perrin and Kniffin published in 1885. I own a reprint and would buy another cheap but I want the original. haley
R, your remarks on cookbooks struck a familiar chord. I was amazed to find that I own 66 cookbooks (albeit many are pamphlets). Still that seems silly when I haven't even used my stove in months. However occasionally I read cookbooks. Food is such an interesting subject.
