About meMy name is Gary L. Dyson. I read primarily first person accounts of historical events, especially battles. It should not be a surprise that I served in the Marines(as a surveyor), 1982-86. Although my degree from Oregon State is in Natural Resources my passion has always been history. I also own a genealogy business, Dyson Genealogy and Historical Research. My book "A Civil War Correspondent in New Orleans, the Journals and Reports of Albert Gaius Hills" is scheduled to be published by McFarland in late December 2012. These journals and reports were passed down from A.G.Hills to his brother F.C. Hills, then his son Albert, then his daughter Katharine, and lastly to her son Alfred Farrell, my father in law. He passed in 1997 and I kept these records until finally transcribing them in 2011.
About my libraryMy library is dominated by US and military history. I prefer books based on first person accounts.
