About me I'm a sushi chef apprentice and jack of all trades at a Japanese restaurant. Just went back to school, attempting to complete a Master's degree in Sociology and embarking on a freelance writing career. I'm a serious book nerd, I spend a ridiculous fraction of my salary on books instead of things like car insurance. Aside from that I love to spend time with my honey bun, our dog, reading, FISHING!, mushroom hunting, hiking, rootin' around in the woods, and seeing the world from the saddle of my bicycle. I am hardcore midwesterner and darn proud of it!!

About my library My library consists of books that I have read all the way through from high school to the present and I'm sure there are quite a few that I missed. I decided to put my summer reading list up here instead of in a word document, more fun this way. These days I'm drawn to books about sharpening my writing skills, Sociology, Christian History, the Environment (esp. conservation, outdoor adventure, and good old fashion midwestern folks that like fishing, hiking, hunting) Buddhism, Sci-Fi and Fantasy that have a good story and are written by good writers and MEXICO!!!.

I can't believe they let you add friends now. This is great!!
Thanks for the group recommendation - very apt, since I always seem to be buying books faster than I can read them, and borrowing even more from the library I work in. I'm so glad you liked Scotland when you came here :) I may be biased, but I do think it's a lovely country. I went to secondary school in a place not far from Kilmarnock, and the countryside is so peaceful down there. My mum still lives in one of the coastal towns in that area. I intend to update my flickr account this summer with some new scenery pics (if I can get over being on LT all the time!)
Hi there :)

I saw your thread on niceness over on the RSI board, and wanted to let you know that I agree, even though I hadn't quite been able to put my finger on what was upsetting me (the thread's gone way off-topic now, so I haven't posted there).

I'm slightly worried that a kind of LT elite is developing. It often seems like a handful of people seem to dominate every single discussion thread (not pointing fingers, but the ones with the big libraries tend to crop up a lot), and I've detected condescension on more than one occasion. Maybe we should set up a kind of LT Little League, for those of us with modest libraries who aren't just here to show off our intellect and put other people down. I don't want my LT experience to be tainted by being made to feel less intelligent than anyone else here.
Thanks for the note. Yes, I have a thing for WWII airplanes and for escape narratives, so this one was a nice addition to my bookshelf. I'm glad to find someone else who enjoyed it!
What's that new Mexico book you're reading? It looks good so you better bring it. ;)
Nice library.
