About meI'm a bibliophile and collect books - not for their $ value, but just because I love them. I do some copyediting for small press horror, and I hope to branch out and work for more publishers once my kids are older and I have more time.

About my libraryI read all kinds of books, but I admit that horror is my favorite, with fantasy and sci-fi close behind. I especially enjoy weird tales and cross-genre reads. And I don't like romance, except for Maeve Binchy (probably because her books don't really have happy endings - I'm a sucker for a bittersweet ending).

Noticed you liked The Bluest Eye, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here as well as a few other book-related sites. Thought you might like my book since it's also southern and a bit dark. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like (I'm out of physical copies at the moment). Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:

Thanks! :)
And Joy is Everywhere;
It is in the Earth's green covering of grass;
In the blue serenity of the Sky;
In the reckless exuberance of Spring;
In the severe abstinence of gray Winter;
In the Living flesh that animates our bodily frame;
In the perfect poise of the Human figure, noble and upright;
In Living;
In the exercise of all our powers;
In the acquisition of Knowledge;
in fighting evils...
Joy is there Everywhere.

Hey there, Gothic Cowgirl,

Thanks for the comment ;) Sinister Landscapes is shaping up to be a great anthology. The stories that were submitted to me so far rocked. There is an immense amount of talent out there. This is a brave new world for horror and this book will be a testament of that. I've just finished my story for it and I think it's one of the top three short stories I've written.

I'll let you know of the exact release date and when more details are available.

Take care,
Cheers,
Alan
Nothing online. I submitted to The Harrow a couple of times, once for one of their anthologies and once for the regular issue. Rejected both times, but good ones and they hoped to see more of my stuff. But after those two submissions I started the Popular Fiction program and my book became my life. I have a new idea for a short and hope to write it soon now that the rough draft of the novel is nearly complete. And I heard about Cemetery Dance in the program, so that was going to be my first submission for that story, if not the others once i get a chance to revise them. So, who knows, maybe later this year you'll get one of my stories. If I do post anything online, though, I'll let you know.
The very same. Mary graduated, if I remember right, my second term in the program. So I was lucky enough to hear her read her thesis. If you thought the book was good, you should see if you can get her to read your favorite part. Amazing.

As for Leisure, it is definitely one of the places i'll be submitting first, but I think that my first book may be a bit to fanciful for them. Probably more of a Tor, Roc, or Dell horror novel.
Are you also on Horrorlitt
