About me I'm in business and my wife is in magazine publishing. We love to read.

About my library This represents the melding of two minds. We love to read, but widely different books.

I love to read fantasy, learn about business, study philology and members of the Inklings, and come to know God better through the study of His Word and Christian books.

My wife loves to read Christian Fiction, Mysteries, and the occasional self-help book.

We collect children's books together.

Isn't A Dance with Dragons supposed to run parallel with A Feast for Crows? That's what I've heard at least. I didn't realize there wasn't that much about the North in Feast. Which characters does he focus on?

I'll look into the Lawhead books you mentioned. Thanks for the suggestions.

I'm also now subscribing to your blog.

Always nice to find other fans of Martin. I still have A Feast for Crows left to read in ASOIF. How did you like it?

And of course, you have to love CS Lewis and Tolkien.

Also, I see you have Stephen Lawhead listed. What books have you read by him? I read Hood at some point last year. I thought it was pretty good. What's his best series in your opinion? Suggestions?

Hey there! Sorry it took me 3 months to respond. Regarding writing specificall Christian sci-fi, I have often thought that there is a big difference between propaganda and art. To put it a nicer way, specifically Christian literature can be a great way to help nourish the Body of Christ, but it often does little to nourish the rest of the world, which is not likely to take a trip to the places where specifically Christian literature is sold.

So, to honor the command to be leaven and salt to the world, it is the vocation of Christian artists to create works of beauty and power that elevate the human spirit and help humanity encounter the transcendant. I believe that is why Tolkien has had such a profound effect on the imagination. His works are laden with human truth (which is, ultimately, a reflection of Truth Himself), and his books can often lead a reader to a profound experience of God--even though Tolkien never writes specifically or overtly about God in his novels.

If you are ever interested, you can stop by www.keithstrohm and read my blog (which I am restarting reguarly after some itenerant posting). I talk a lot about the role of the artist, science fiction, God, and just about anything else that strikes my fancy!
Thanks John,
I sent an invitation too. I'll think we will see around from now :)
Hi John,
I'm Mihai from Dark Wolf's Fantasy Reviews and I just started my account here. I drop by to say hi.

John, thanks for leaving a comment on my Library Thing profile, and thanks for your kind words. I'm sorry it took me so long to reply. I haven't logged in here in a while.

Best wishes,

Dana Huff
I don't really know that much about DragonCon so no, I probably won't go. :P

As for the reviews, I found your blog through Mental_Floss, I think it was and really liked GRRM's "The Dying of the Light" and Norwich's "Shakespeare's Kings" reviews. I browse through the site when I'm bored at work and add interesting books to my "To Read/Buy" list. Thanks for broadening my horizons. :)
I didn't realize you were a fellow Georgian as well! I'm a Macon girl, myself. :)
I absolutely love your blog. Your reviews have made me read some books that I definitely would have overlooked in the past. Thank you for taking the time to write your opinions and share them with us.
I see you have quite a collection of fiction, Christian books. I got my first Dee Henderson book for Christmas and see you have quite a few of her books. What is your take on her writings? May I suggest who I think is a really great fiction, religious author, Susan May Warren. Her books our fast-paced and interesting.
Thanks for the comment. I am still getting a grasp on this site and I really wish they has some form of email notification when someone leaves me a comment.
Hey, I am still getting used to library thing. I will hopefully be updating my profile with my more recent books/reviews. I hope that in the future I will be able to put my complete collection online as well.
I also like to escape in the books that I read. But, I can't say that I have escaped to all the places that you have escaped to. LOL. Mainly the places I like to visit are the Old West. :)
