About meI am based in Western France, and am originally from the UK (Wales)
I teach languages and renovate houses in this area, which keeps me very busy!
I am surrounded by like minded friends and family who have also come here to enjoy "La Vie en France"
I am a passionate foodie - much to the delight of my end users (friends, family) - I have also passed on this love to my oldest daughter who has recently become an editor of a new food magazine called FLAVOUR (based in the UK) - I have developed an interest in food blogs and am very impressed at the high standard - I have made a start myself, but feel I have a very long way to go to catch up! I adore making lists and organizing everything from my spice chest to my linen cupboard, so imagine my delight when I saw this opportunity to organize my library!
My actual library is based on the second floor of our house, but is in very sad need of tidying and sorting - we need more bookshelves to do this. It is, obviously stored along with the family's library, which is also in sad need of organization. We are very fortunate to have such a big space to store our books.
My predominant collection is food based writing, and it is this part of my library that I want to categorize first.
I have recently taken an active interest in owning a KINDLE reader, but it is, as yet unavailable in the UK.

About my libraryLargely and predominately food writing and cookery.
I have I think, a good "cross section" library as well.
Currently my library is on the second floor of the house (38 steps up!).
It is desperate need of sorting and organizing, and we still have crates and bags with books and magazines that we cannot really get at.
I don't really know how many books we have up there, but between the four family members, I would estimate it runs into thousands.
I have some e books as well.

Hi Helen,
I am just clicking around on LT, and came across your page. We don't have many books in common, but I think that's cuz you mostly have cooking reading in here. That is the only thing I haven't put in here yet. I have a good number of cookbooks, though and love Rachael Ray's magazine, Everyday Cooking. I love the idea of a book that is both literary and a cookbook, or literary and about planting flowers. I am a writer and would like to run with that idea someday. Anyway, it was nice to pop in, and I hope to hear from you.Mary Beth
The Common Joys

THESE joys are free to all who live
The rich and poor, the great and low:
The charms which kindness has to give,
The smiles which friendship may bestow,
The honor of a well-spent life,
The glory of a purpose true,
High courage in the stress of strife,
And peace when every task is through.

Nor class nor caste nor race nor creed,
Nor greater might can take away
The splendor of an honest deed.
Who nobly serves from day to day
Shall walk the road of life with pride,
With friends who recognize his worth,
For never are these joys denied
Unto the humblest man on earth.

Not all may rise to world-wide fame,
Not all may gather fortune's gold,
Not all life's luxuries may claim;
In differing ways success is told.
But all may know the peace of mind
Which comes from service brave and true;
The poorest man can still be kind,
And nobly live till life is through.

These joys abound for one and all:
The pride of fearing no man's scorn,
Of standing firm, where others fall,
Of bearing well what must be borne.
He that shall do an honest deed
Shall win an honest deed's rewards;
For these, no matter race or creed,
Life unto every man affords.

Wow! I love your food blog - it looks great, and I'm definitely trying your bread recipe today, I've had difficulty finding one for my bread machine that tastes right. I'm fussy, because my mother made all our bread in the Aga when I was growing up.
Cheers!
Goldengrove.
Hello,
Your blog sound great, and I will definitely look at it very soon, but just now I'm a bit overwhelmed as I'm just starting an MSc in Library and Inforation Studies, and it's all rather hard work!
Lovely to see a picture of you - and is that where you live? It looks wonderful!
I'm still not a digital camera user - in fact I don't have much in the way of gadgets at all - I'm beginning to find this a little restricting, as I enter the world of high-tech information, but I reckon I can learn to use it without actually owning it. Paper may be seen as old fashioned at the moment, but at least we'll still be able to read from it when the oil runs out!
Best wishes.
The weekend was great, and I've heard the Bishop had a good time with us, which is nice.
Sorry its taken me so long to get back to you again - we were on holiday in Normandy & Brittany (ummmm lots of lovely food...)
Food from the garden has been rather more an aspiration that a fact this year, as I've been on the 9-5 long commute. But I've some great potatoes and beans.
Hubby made me chick-pea and pasta soup last night, from Jamie's Italy - one of our favourites. Don't know what we're having tonight, but I'll be making chocolate fudge cake to bring to work as a goodbye gesture. I've got a great recipe from a magazine - dead easy, always yummy.
Best wishes.
