Good Morning,

Bestselling author (Final Exam: A Surgeon's Reflections on Mortality) and NY Times columnist Pauline Chen praises the work as “powerful, thought-provoking, and unforgettable…” In Chen’s words, after reading Coppola: A Pediatric Surgeon in Iraq, “You will never again look at the Iraq war—or any war for that matter—in quite the same way.”

We hope you enjoy Coppola: A Pediatric Surgeon in Iraq and look forward to your comments. For further information, please visit the official website http://www.coppolathebook.com

I'm fan of japanese literature, both old and new, just drop by and take a look.
Hi Handy,

I wanted to know if you got your copy of Good Date, Bad Date: The Matchmaker's Guide to Where the Boys Are—and How to Get Them from the early review program. If so, when did you get it - I am still waiting on my copy from the Feb. batch...just a little worried!

Hi,

Saw you liked Trainspotting, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reading my new novel and posting your comments here (as well as on a few other book-related sites). Thought you might like my novel since it's also about a group of disturbed kids and a bit dark. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like. Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:

I've recently read Ogai Mori's VIta Sexualis. Interesting as a precursor to later works by Tanizaki and Mishima. Seeing there treatment of sexuality (nihilisitc obsession) as compared to his (cultural metamorphosis?). ALso read Ryu Murakami's ALmsot Transparent Blue. Made my head spin a bit every time I put it down. Hope all is well with your studies and such. WHat have oyu been reading lately? How'd that Japanese Lit. class work out?
I want to take that class! where do you go to school?
I strongly urge you to read _Spring Snow_ by Mishima... One of the best novels I've ever read. _Acts of Worship_ is good, but pales in comparison to Spring Snow. I also have _The Sailor Who Fell from Grace with the Sea_ which remains unread at the moment.

As for Tanizaki, I've read _The Key_ and _Seven Japanese Tales_ and enjoyed both immensely. I am reading 'Quicksand' right now. I also wish to read Kawabata, Abe, etc. Whatever I can get my hands on... Not buying books until this TBR pile shrinks a bit though. Asian Studies might end up being my minor too if I choose to have one. I just started taking Japanese this semester.

Please pardon my bugging you. haha.
oh my god! look at your bookshelf. it's sagging beneath the weight of your books. mine looks like that too. pile upon pile of books, nowhere to store.
