About meThe idea for "Pieces of You," my first novel, was born shortly after my friend--the model for Mark, the book's protagonist—became comatose. His life experiences allowed me to write about the spirit world, social responsibility and sacrificial love, using time travel to follow his trail.

You will meet the Mark I knew in "Pieces of You," but first I'll give you a peek at its author. These are a few of my favorite things: science fiction (and most other books, too); stimulating conversation (actually that should be at the top of the list); any shades of pink and purple; trying new things and visiting new places (especially with my grandchildren); and the list goes on...

This is what you may want to know: I have a masters' degree in Communications and Urban Studies from Michigan State. The Urban Studies component enabled me to be an economic development director, bringing jobs to communities. The communications focus has allowed me to teach public speaking, English and writing at the college level, starting with a public speaking class at a military base. By the way, I never planned to teach public speaking because I didn't take the course in college—out of fear. Neither did I plan to go into the Peace Corps but I volunteered after my children left home and was in the first group ever to go into Kazakhstan.

Today I read (mostly novels), teach Public Speaking, write (the sequel to POY), attend workshops, work on expanding my social media network, and all the other things semi-retired people do to keep their minds and bodies active.

About my libraryI have hundreds of books and a Kindle. My favorite genre is science fiction but any drama, adventure, or classic will do--as long as it leaves me with something to think about that may change my life.
