About meI have a few friends who call themselves reformed lawyers, and I like that description since I don't practice. I hate to be unoriginal, but since it applies, I'll use it too-I am a reformed lawyer. I have always loved to read and have pictures taken of me as a child reading up in a tree in order to avoid the siblings (and possibly chores around the house.)

Books are like drugs. I can never have enough and despite the fact that my reading list is always growing exponentially, I am not daunted in the least. In fact, I get warm and fuzzy thinking about everything I still have to read.

As luck would have it, (for the sake of my sanity) I have other interests. Music of all kinds, especially live music. Theater. Movies. Television. Though reality series do drive me crazy. And, I'm blessed with a great group of friends who I can usually convince to meet me out for a pint whenever things get too heady. When I'm reading, I often don't hear people speaking to me and regularly pass my El stop and have to turn around and head the other direction so I can get home.

I live in Chicago and like most avid readers I know, have several novels begun though none have finished themselves-funny how they don't write themselves while I'm out about in the city.

About my libraryMy library includes everything from epic fantasy (for which I harbor a special place in my heart) to Umberto Eco to Diana Gabaldon to Jill Connor Browne's Sweet Potato Queens. I don't read self-help and I don't read romance or as a rule mysteries, although a few do sneak their way into my collection.

Actually, goose is completely unrelated to Top Gun. In high school spanish we were to go by our spanish names, but my name doesn't translate into spanish. So I randomly chose Gustavo. From that point forward I was referred to as goose by a particularly vocal crowd, so it stuck. No one in reality calls me that anymore, but I still use it for internet purposes.
You're welcome :) I just noticed you've read Clan of the Cave bear. I've had it on my TBR pile for ages. Is it any good?

Thanks,
Polly
Thanks for the suggestions. I'll have to try the Twelve Houses series. Did you ever read Sara Donati's Wilderness series?
