Thank you for your prompt answer, you made the book more attractive to me. I must admit, a part of me was looking for a kind of Richler-methadone, but if the book had been too similar it could have been very disappointing. Anyway I think I'll read first the italian translation. Did you read other books by Jacobson?

Hello,

I see Mordecai Richler is one of your favorite authors: he's also one of mine and I'm still mourning! So it would be interesting for me to know your opinion about Kalooki Nights, before I buy it too.

P.S. pardon my poor english, I can read it, but I'm not used to write or speak it.
Although it might be frowned upon by LibraryThing dogmatists, if there are any, I plan to catalogue all of the books in my collection, and then dispose of the vast majority of them. I love my books - they are really the only things I have ever been materialistic about. However, my love for freedom is more powerful and those beloved friends who have lingered on my pine shelves all these years have become a ball-and-chain that inhibits easy mobility. Oh, if I were loaded I would probably keep an apartment just for them, but, alas, I spent all my money on books. I will be keeping only a few particular favourites, and many of those will probably be stored with a relative while I traipse about the planet acquiring experiences that may one day become books. (If and) when I am old, they will be there to comfort me, unless the conservatives have taken control of the planet and forced me to burn them, or something.
