The old design is no longer fully supported nor does it get full attention when we roll out new features. We strongly recommend using the new design.
About meI was born on the island of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands in 1957. As a child, I was always enjoyed art classes and had the beautiful background of the Caribbean to develop my perspective. Each opportunity to create a new piece of artwork was exciting to me. I would sketch on the edges of pages, draw stick people and eventually build on them until they became a cartoon figure, then moving to painting on driftwood, rocks and eventually canvas. My first painting, created in 1990, on canvas was a huge accomplishment for me – it meant the beginning of a dream. That painting is hung in my home today and the first painting shown in my book, “Island Woman” 24 x 18 done in acrylic paint. Most of my major drawings were created on the inside of my Bible. As the daughter of a Baptist Preacher, I spent lots of time sitting in church and, sometimes, drew the message. I later developed the idea of painting an event and used the story telling concept in the book. I was widowed 4 years ago and have created two paintings for my late husband, Carl Miller. As my husband described what he thought was going to be our new adventure in the islands, he was so descriptive; I immediately saw his words in my mind and created “Miller’s Place” 16 x 20 acrylic on canvas which, today, is one of my best paintings.
