About meI am a mother of two young boys and have a great husband. I have really gotten into reading the last few years and have also joined my local bookstore's bookclub. I never really enjoyed reading before but now I don't know what to do if I am not reading.

About my libraryI like to read different story lines in fiction. Always looking for a good book to read.I have listed books that I have read in the last few years and also books that I hop to read. Please leave comments and suggestions about books.I enjoy going to our used book store, well it is house and look around.

I think Sweetness in the Belly would be a good book club book. Actually, our public library has 2 book clubs, and they have selected it as well. The librarians tend to pick books that generate a great discussion, so your club might like it also.

Do you have a club list as yet or will you get that at the first meeting in September?
Are you part of the Early Reviewers program here? They have the new Lori Lansen book, The Wife's Tale. I've requested it and am keeping my fingers crossed. I have only read The Girls, but loved it. What did you think of Rush Home Road? btw, where in Ontario are you?? I'm in Thornhill - just north of Toronto, but work downtown.
The books I am choosing for my club are:
The Cellist of Sarajevo and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society. One of the other members is choosing Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet (which I would have chosen). I also just finished Bel Canto, and thought it would be a great discussion choice.
Hello,
Haven't been reading much. Just at the start of 'People of the Book'. Did you go see Time Traveler's Wife??? Like it??? I haven't read it yet. I haven't read any of the Alice Sebold books, but a lot of people like them.
My sister has been trying to get me to read Time Traveller's wife for ages, and I've been planning to read it anyway. I just have so many other books on my huge LIST. Ahhhh! But, now that you say the movie is coming out, I may have to bump it up my list, and read it in August.
Hello,

Coventry was so good, I finished it quickly. Let me know what you think. If you have Secret River, we can read that one together. I think I'll start that one next- I already have it, and I am dying to read it!
Hi...
To find the books, I use LT of course! Go to Search, then on Site Search, I go to tags, and enter the name of the country/region, and then scroll through the members' books. Quite interesting!

I started Coventry, and it is very good so far. What are you reading?
Thought you might be intersted in joining my new thread. Check it out.

Hello,
You wanted suggestions for good reads now that your bookclub is wrapping up? I always find the best books just from looking through the LT libraries. I also have some internet book sites and book blogs that I enjoy. I'll try to send you some links.
Heidi,
Yes, that is funny that we are at the same number in the 50 book challenge!
My book club, and LT have really got me reading like crazy. The bad thing about LT is that my TBR keeps growing. For every book I finish, I add 2 or 3 more to my list!
Yes, being in the book club is wonderful! I see you started a Jodi Picoult book. I've only read one of hers, 'My Sister's Keeper'. It was a book club read. She is very popular.

Right now, I have so many great books to read, but just not enough time!
Hello Heidi...
Are you liking Cellist of Sarajevo? I am still planning to read that one. I am reading 'The Cure for Death by Lightning'. It's for book club, so I have to finish it soon, then on to other choices.
Thanks for the movie dates! I was surprised to see that The Time Traveller's Wife is coming out so soon...I really hope they do the book justice.
The Boys in the Trees...it was not my fave. Well-written, but didn't do it for me. Guernsey Literary...now that's fantastic. I am recommending it to my book club when we select our next round of books. You'll have to let me know what you think. I will definitely look for Astonishing Splashes as well. A Reliable Wife is good too, but I'm not finished yet. Happy reading!
I started 'A Reliable Wife' by Robert Goolrick. I am enjoying it so far. I am going to look for 'Astonishing Splashes'. Sounds interesting. I'll also get to 'Time Traveler's Wife' this month for sure. I must be the only person in the world who hasn't read it yet!
I need some suggestions too. I see you loved 'Time Traveler's Wife'. Is it a 'feel good' book? That's what I need. Have to get to 'The Uncommon Reader' soon. Supposed to be a nice, light read.
I've not read any of the Twilight books, but they are so popular.

Finished 'The Boys In the Trees' late last night. The most unusual book I've read in some time. Not sure how I feel about it.

I started 'Mercy among the children' when it was first published, but the subject matter was too intense for me then. Been meaning to give it another try, especially with it's inclusion on the Canada Reads list.

I am picking up 'A Reliable Wife' today (7 day library loan), so that just got moved to the top of my list. It was an LT Early Reviewer book. Sounds intriguing.
I liked FNKC. Didn't LOVE it. Too many critical scenes where the author copped out; she didn't write what actually happened. ie: when Georgia tells the girls about her illness, we aren't let in on the actual details, just an after-the-fact version. I guess I wanted to be the proverbial fly on the wall! I think that's why I didn't connect with all the characters. I don't usually enjoy watching movie-versions of books I've read, but I will go see this movie (starring Julia Roberts) when it comes out next year. So far, I like Knit 2. Getting to know the ladies better.
Heidi...
I just got Love Walked In by Marisa de los Santos. The sequel is Belong to Me. Have you read both books? I'll start Love Walked In next week, after I finish Knit Two by Kate Jacobs. It's the sequel to Friday Night Knitting Club.
Heidi...
You were right, Glass Castle was great. I am now starting The Camel Bookmobile. After that I have to choose between The Girls, which you and many others have raved about, or The Sad Truth About Happiness by Anne Giardini.
Hello Heidi,
I love LT as well. I still have lots of info to update. I've always been a reader, but since my kids were born, (they are now 6 and 3) my reading has been mostly kids books...you know, reading to them. Last year I started a book club with some friends, and that has really gotten me reading again for my own selfish pleasure! Some of the books that you loved were also hits with me: Water For Elephants, Book of Negroes, Birth House & Kite Runner. I just started Glass Castle. I see you have Guernsey Literary...on your TBR. I LOVED that book. Let me know what you think after you've finished it!

Hi Heidi, thanks for the "interesting library" add! It looks like we have similar tastes, you've got some books here that I've read or want to read that haven't made into my library yet. I see you've added Three Day Road and Through Black Spruce - I read Three Day Road two years ago as part of our local version of Canada Reads and absolutely LOVED it! It ended up being our winner for the whole series. I can't wait to get into Through Black Spruce. Hope you enjoy them as well :)
Hi Heidi,
I'm loving Sarah's Key. I'm about 50 pages till the end and I feel like it's had a pretty good pace and is pretty absorbing. For the first half or so, it switches back and forth between July, 1942 and the present (or near present)so that helps to keep things going. Plus, I am always fascinated by WWII and Holocaust stories and this fits that bill. I hope you enjoy it!
