About: I work in a small library that is both Public and School. I've been here for three years, since before I graduated high school in 2006. I currently attend a community college and intend to attain my Associate's Degree before transfering to a university to get a BA in Art and eventually a Masters in Library Science. I have three cats--Smokey, Purdy, and Lily--and a dog, Angel.
About my library I have been reading for, well, since I learned to read; and before that my parents read to me. I've been collecting books for a relatively short amount of time: only seriously for about three or four years. The book that first inspired me to collect antique and rare books was an 1899 copy of Milton's Paradise Lost, which I discovered at about the age of sixteen beneath a flowerpot in a family friend's apartment. I asked if I could borrow it, and when we fell out-of-touch, they said I could keep it. Since then, I've been choosing "book" over "food" when it comes to my meager budget (Library Assistants make zilch), and am always on the hunt for new, rare, used, and antique books. Also, at the library, I am in charge of all book repairs. For two years (my last year of high school and first year of college, and intermittently since) I studied bookbinding for school, and decided to apply what I'd learned to my job. I'm self taught, and because I don't have all the real tools, I've become very resourceful when it comes to book repair.
