About meMy name is Holly. I have a wonderful husband, Kyle, two giant dogs, Jessie and Milo, and a beautiful snake named Oracus. I like to read, travel and race walk. I also participate in zumba classes.

About my libraryI work as a Children's Librarian at the Vigo County Public Library in Terre Haute, IN. I have been there almost 2 years. I have an extensive collection of young peoples materials at my home because I taught preschool for four years, and I bought a lot of things for my classroom. I also enjoy military related materials and adult non fiction.

:) Children's books are wonderful! I raise dairy goats so that's why I love anything with goats. It's fun to see what I can find.

Sue-
I have a black GSD and a GSD/Husky Mix. Jessica Helga und Milo Horst. You can see them at
www.dogster.com and search by using their full names.
Holly,
I really enjoy reading the children's books you selected to the children at the library. I am in the children's department and I do the preschool storytime. It is so easy to fall in love with children's literature, there are so many wonderful books! I tend to purchase way to many for fear they will go out of print.
I would like to one day write and illustrate my own children's book.
I am amazed at how much preparation is required for the 8 week sessions. We act out the "Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything" at our Halloween gathering, and we enjoy introducing children to "Harry the Dirsty Dog". Good luck with everything...what type of dogs do you have?

Holly,

I also love children's literature and have many shelves of books--though no kids to go with them yet! :) Since you enjoy the Alexander books and nonfiction you should really check out Alexander and the Wonderful, Marvelous, Excellent, Terrific 90 days by Judith Viorst. The audio book edition is wonderful. The author chronicles the summer that her son Alexander, the inspiration for the children's books, and his family live with her and her husband as their house is remodeled. Just as she puts a humorous twist on life as viewed by a young child her wit is displayed in recording the love, frustrations and miscommunications of have 5 people move into one's house.

Your suggestions for military literature are helpful. My brother is in the military but I have not read anything as I feel it would be too difficult, but maybe it would help. I'll have to check out some of your selections.

I am the Teen Librarian at the Frankfort Public Library. It has always been my dream to be a Children's Librarian and/or a preschool teacher! I do enjoy working with the older kids but it is very different. I grew up in Attica, maybe we'll meet someday as we're not too far apart. Good luck with your job and studies!

Hey Holly,

Enjoyed reading through your library thing. I'll have to look into Alexander, Who's Not Going to Move; I don't know that one and I love "Alexander." I am definitely him on a bad day. Also the book Dachau and the Nazi Terror will be one to add to my Holocaust collection. Shelly Main (sjoycem)
