About my libraryA catalogue of books I have read, beginning especially in 2005. Borrowed almost always means the book is from a public or academic library. Owned means it’s on my shelf at home. Star rating system to reflect personal value of book. Would confidently recommend anything with four or five stars. Books ranked meet one or, rarely, all criteria as follows (though this is a mostly whimsical account):

***** Immensely gratifying to read. A singular, well-wrought expression. Irreversible personal significance. Mighty. A revelation. Indispensable.

**** Considerable. Not to be slighted. Illuminating or enlightening. Resonant. Honest and worthy.

*** Casual or indulgent, but not unpalatable. Of scant and/or piecemeal interest. Enjoyable, but conventional. Nonessential.

** Second-rate or plodding. Irksome. A huge disappointment.

* Inconsequential. Rotten. Petty or impenetrable.
