Noticed you liked The Bluest Eye, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here as well as a few other book-related sites. Thought you might like my book since it's also southern and a bit dark. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like (I'm out of physical copies at the moment). Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:

Thanks,

I absolutely adored the Tortall books. I think my situation was just about the same. I read Alanna when I was about 11 and didn't find Daine and further til high school. I've heard a lot of people that think that the Alanna books are too 'Mary Sue', but even on reread I didn't really see that. Maybe it's because I first read and loved them when I was so young...

I also feel like the Winding Circle books are written 'younger' than Alanna, and I never liked them quite as much. I still buy them, read them, enjoy them, but they don't share in the deep abiding love for the Tortall universe (although the Aly books weren't really my thing...).

I was really hoping to get a book about George at some point. I think his story would be amazing and fun. But I understand that she mostly wants to keep to female heroines.
