About meI'm a somewhere-around-40 married, working mom of 2. I love reading, always have, and never feel like I have enough time to do as much of it as I'd like. I'm a rather addicted BookCrosser (screen name the same there) & PaperBackSwapper and am constantly having to defend myself when my husband complains that I'm spending too much time with "that book stuff".

Currently Reading:

About my libraryConstantly adding to my library -- most all of my books are used. I rarely buy a new book! You can find me frequenting library sales, garage sales, and Goodwill, and I'm esp. fond of the clearance section at Half Price Books. My tag system is simple, but it works for me!
I am most generally a reader of fiction, but am not exclusive to that genre. I read approximately half of my selections on audio, as I'm in the car a lot with my job. And I'm also a Nook owner, so I've started reading ebooks as well.
Please leave a comment if you're so inclined, and if you have any recommendations based on similar interests, please feel free to pass those along to me as well!

Hi,
I was looking at people who have alot of my books in their library and clicked on you. We have a great deal of the same good books, I think. I think I'm going to try paperbackswap.com also, considering some of the comments on your page. I hope we can talk about some of the books we like currently, if your life is not too busy. Stop by and check out my page, but I will be making drastic changes to it, it is so out-dated. I have been off-line for quite awhile, but now I'm back and have to update so many things. I still love my husband, my dogs and books, so that much is true, but keep checking for updates if you are interested. Things have changed for the better in my life and I would like to put it on my profile! I also listen to a great deal of audiobooks, and have heard a few good ones lately. I got my husband hooked on them also. We own a construction company and he says his guys are always asking what he is listening to because they want to get the audiobook, since they all have to drive daily. Can't you just see these big gruff guys chatting about books? MB
I've enjoyed reading your reviews... we agree on so many books: ) Nice to find another BookCrosser on LT too!
Hi, I saw that you added the Book of Bright Ideas to your library. It is one of my favorites. What did you think of it?
Hi Coleen ~ Thank you for visiting my page ....it's always so nice to have company. :) I hope you have a safe and happy Christmas.
Hi ~ We have a number of books in common, so added you as an interesting library. I've enjoyed taking a look through your library and reading your reviews. Also added a few more books to my TBR pile. :) Happy reading ....
Keep entering the wrong book title!! Third try... Thanks for your reply regarding Great House: A Novel. Will keep looking and hoping :)
I am trying to get through GREAT HOUSE...I thought it was going to be a great read, but I can't even follow what is going on.

I saw your review...maybe you could shed some light on it for me.

All I have gotten is this desk was hers for 25 years and then it is taken away and then the next chapter she is at a funeral....it seems disconnected to me...very complex.

Help if you can...does it get better? I am about to stop reading it.
Hi
Thanks for letting me know your thoughts on the new N.Kraus book. I am looking forward to reading it. It sounds complex and interesting.
Thanks,
Clamato
I really liked "Room". It was so original and it was an interesting perspective. It's one that stays with you. It was really quick though. I think I finished it in 3 days, no doubt because I couldn't put it down!
Hi indygo88,

Thanks for adding me to your interesting library group! I just saw it now, but don't have time this minute to check yours out. I am astounded by how many books you have reviewed, especially considering the fact that you have a job and children! ( all four of mine are grown) I have been making a point of reviewing the books I have been reading this past year, but my stack is a pittance compared to yours. I will be coming back to look at your reviews as I find that people who have the same libraries tend to like many of the same books and therefore a recommendation from them is twice as good a bet!!! We have a few other things in common too. I listen to about a third of my books. In good weather I do it walking my dogs (three little ones) but often in the car, or doing mindless tasks at home, exercising, ironing, painting, weeding.... you get the idea. In my humble opinion, everything is better with a book!! (the only downside is that sometimes the narrator irritates me with their style, or lack thereof, and I feel like my opinion of the book is swayed a lot by how good the narrator is. Do you find this to be true occasionally?) I subscribe to Audible.com and get at least two books a month for a set fee. The other thing we have in common is paperbackswap.com. There are very few readers that I have met who know about this site and I happen to think it is the best thing since sliced bread!!! I only keep my favorite books, so everything else I read finds it's way back into the world. I usually have about 100 books on my request list since, like you, I rarely if ever buy new! Too bad everyone in LT doesn't know about it and we'd have ever more books to choose from! I belong to two book clubs, one new and the other for over fifteen years! (how time flies when you are reading a book.... ) I hope we can keep in touch. Can you tell me just a couple of your VERY, VERY favorite books????
Thanks,

Beryl
Well, not an entire month!
I am actually in a book group. We have been together for 3 years. All but one member are employed at BN. Where does your book group meet. We usually go to a members home, but lately, we have been hitting some of the local eateries. If you are ever in the Noblesville BN stop in and introduce yourself. I love meeting fellow book lovers.
Hi Indygo88,
Just wanted to stop by and say hi. I am from Indy also and noticed that we have similar reading tastes. We share 227 books. I am from Fishers and I work at BN in Noblesville. I also enjoy shopping for books on the cheap. Old hole in the wall bookstores are my fav. The best one I have ever been in is The Tangled Web in Salem, Mass. Far from home, but if you are ever there, it is sooo worth checking out. Happy reading!!!!
Hi, Colleen: Great to hear from you! Thanks for letting me know about the Affinity movie. I was thinking it would be a great movie as I was reading the book.

I have only started the Physick Book - about 20 pages in so far, but I'll let you know how it goes.

I hope you're doing well! =)

Jill
Hi There!
Just here checking out your library---haven't done so in a while. We have a good amt in common:)
I'm off to a massive library book sale in a few weeks...YAY!
Dottie
Aha! Now I see where I picked up on the title Apologize, Apologize -- it was from your profile! I forgot I'd even visited here.

Anyway, it's on the way to me from the library. Did you enjoy the book?

Karen
Hi Indy!
Thanks for the compliments! Your kids are KeeeUTE! As soon as Earth Hour has happened, I will post a pic of my kidlets. They are the 4-legged variety. I just bought a digital camera so have been trying to get a photo of the two of them. Can't even get one with their eyes open! My tabby is sleeping next to my pc as per usual. He sometimes rolls over and poof! there goes the email.
Don't you just love LT? I even bought a t-shirt. Which I will wear on the first day of my upcoming booksale and hopefully other local LTers will identify themselves. I LOVE booksales! Went to one on Sunday (50 kms round trip). Going to one this Friday after work which is over an hour away. Then one a week this wednesday and then mine so soon I will be over the 1500 mark. It's become an obsession! I keep telling people that because I run a book group, I'm storing up books for future possibilities for the group - more like I'm a squirrel with acorns.
You didn't like the Soul Thief? I picked up a copy recently because of a recommendation. Hope to get to it this summer. As soon as the June bkgrp title is done, I feel 'let out of school' & go hog wild with reading everything from trash to classics. It's so liberating, just like when you were a kid. I'm in school part-time though, but it's still all good.
How's the Uninvited? Looks to be scary. And what is a BookCrosser?
I enjoy chatting up books with people from all over. I love this site but if I spent half the time reading that I do here, I would be much further ahead with my ticker! I have to update it but have forgotten my password... duh!
Cheerios,
Clamato
I do the same thing!! I just bought two books earlier this week and then I went on Amazon yesterday and bought two more! I haven't even read the 5 gazillion other ones on my shelves yet...I haven't posted them on here either.

I've resigned myself to the fact that it will take a lifetime for me to get them all organized...so I'm in no hurry. :)
I'm having a great time browsing through your library! We share a lot of the same books, but there are so many that I haven't read too...thanks for that! Now I need to go shopping...I'm not thanking you for that! ;)
Hi! I appreciated your review of The Cross. I also reviewed it and had a similar reaction. It's interesting to see the same criticisms show up from different people...

Anyhow, that's all I really had to say :)

Amy
I do! I got engaged Dec. 27. I'm pretty excited! Did you have a good Christmas?
How fun that we share so many books! I will definitely get some ideas from your library...
Yep. Looks like I'm gonna have to upgrade my account because I have a bunch more I can add :)
I can already tell I'm going to become addicted to this site! Thanks for telling me about it!!
wow we have 110 books in common. That's my top so far

Happy reading!

Hi Indy,

Thanks for the compliment about my bookshelves. Sorry I didn't reply to you back in March. I have been offline for about 6 months because I have been so busy with work and family. I have cut back my days recently so hopefully I will have more time read and visit Librarything. I have just finished reading Twilight by Stephanie Meyer and quiet enjoyed it. I will have a closer look at your library and might get some ideas about what to read next.

I like the idea of reading books in the car on audio, have never done it but will have to give it a go.

Kind regards,

Amanda
That's great! I would love to check it out. Thanks for letting me know. I'm up on the Northwest side. When do you guys meet and what kind of books do you read?

Sorry for the long post. Happy reading!
Melissa
I got an advance copy of The Fire!! I'm so excited! Let me know if the book that you got is good.
Yep, that's my Lab, Boone. He is about 80 lbs and is sure he is a lap dog! Thanks for sending the book. :)
Hello! Congrats on your ER book!
Hi,

We have many books in common in our libraries so I've added you to my interesting library list!

~Bonnie
Hi Coleen, News certainly travels fast on LT! Yes, indeed, I did rate Edgar Sawtelle as a 5-star book. It had a huge emotional impact on me. I just fell into his world and way of thinking. It helps that I'm a dog lover and believe that dogs communicate with us on many levels if we give them a chance. I think the author must be a genius as I was even mesmerized by detailed explanations of breeding dogs. But this is so much more than a dog book. I just finished writing my review on my profile page. I purposely didn't give too much of the story away as I hope many readers want to experience the book in their own way. Let me know what you think if you read it.
hi there

According to my computer it says that our libraries are the same. You have a ton of books. Have you read most of them?
Thanks for your comment on my pic. It's a stock photo of the library at Trinity College. I've never been there, but I like to joke that that's a picture of the library I hope to have in my house one day. ;) I also have to point out that there's a strange coincidence that your user name has "88" in it which is the number of books that we share! (And plenty of my favorites in common as well!) Thanks for saying hi! Cheers!
Thank you for your interest in my library. We do seem to have many books in common. I, too, enjoy the book search at garage sales, used bookstores, and --the mother lode-- library book sales. I'm off for a week end in Kansas City tomorrow to see my grandson get baptized and, lo and behold, there just happens to be the Johnson County FOL book sale. I won't get there until the last day, but I figure all the popular mainstream books will be gone and make it easier to get the ones I'm really interested in. Just love all that "book stuff!" ~Donna~
Hi Colene, did you get a lot of goodies this weekend at the booksale? I'm sorry I missed it! I'll keep it in mind for next year.
Thanks for the info on the booksale, however, I will be at my cousin's wedding. This is also the weekend of Printer's Row bookfair in Chicago. So many things going on and I can't go to any! I would be interested in the next book sale. I'll be in IN in two weeks and driving through in 3. As for audiobooks, I am now downloading most of them from audible.com. I would like to trade suggestions but can't really trade the actual books since they are downloaded right to my ipod. Take care, Erin
I just started listening to What the Dead Know by Laura Lipman and noticed you have already listened to it. I have to admit that I was starting to become dazed listening to her voice. I had to shut it off for a while. How did you like it?
Hi there,
I enjoyed checking out your library! I see you are reading Stolen Child, are you enjoying it. I was sad to see it end.

Heather
thanks so much! he is a cutie and loves to read just like his parents!
Hi there!
I just loved The Stolen Child, hope you're enjoying it!!
-Smez
Thanks for adding me! I share the same fondness of looking for books at garage sales and the clearance at half price books is my favorite kind of shopping. I am looking forward to getting recommendations by browsing your library.
It means they are still out with the book marks in them, but I haven't picked them up in months!

I like to look at other winners libraries, too. It just confirms my suspicions on what that algorithm is really looking for. ;o)
Coleen, if you're obsessed with bookcrossing, you should try bookmooch (www.bookmooch.com). It's a book swapping site. Between that and library thing, I'm so addicted it's a struggle to get any reading done! (Your library is the first that appears on libraries similar to mine).
Hi, I was browsing your profile from the books we share link, and saw Bookcrossing. I was really intrigued, so I joined. At the time I joined I didn't say where I heard about bookcrossing. This was last Saturday. I have set 8 books free, and one has already been caught! I would like to give you credit for my budding addiction. Do you think there is a way to edit how I found out about bookcrossing on their web?
mizruzz
Hi Coleen!

I loved looking through your library. We have around 125 books in common! I noticed that you own The Secret History. If you loved it, as I did, you might really enjoy Gentlemen & Players by Joanne Harris. Like The Secret History, it is set in an academic institution and has elements of suspense. I really loved it.

Seeing as our reading interests are so similar, I'll definitely check back to see what you have been reading!

- Brianna
Hello from a fellow Lafayette book lover! I was checking out the local area, and noted that we have a lot in common. I have probably been the one nudging you out of the way at Goodwill at some point in time. ;)
I also love to go to the clearance section at Halfprice books. I think that we should send lots of letters to try and get them to build one here in Lafayette! On second thought, they might be way to dangerous for me.
Thanks for the comment. I agree, we have very similar tastes! I have checked out your library in the past.
Hello,
We share many books and several favorites, especially The Time Traveller's Wife. I enjoyed perusing your library.
Mel
Thanks Coleen. Is it snowing by you yet? We are just getting pounded. I will actually be in IN next week, I travel for work and that is one of 8 states that I cover. I just finished The Constant Princess, it was not one of my favorites. I'm off to shovel now, have a good night.
Hi Coleen, I am new to LT and just noticed that we have 47 books in common. I have added your library to my watch list!
Wow, that sounds like fun. What kind of books does your club read and what are they reading currently? I think I have a bit of an obsession but I justify it by buying a lot of $1 books and half-priced ones (and often used off Amazon) but there aren't a lot of people I know personally who are obsessed with books like I am. I had a book club going for about 2.5 years but to be honest, nobody in it keeps up and I'm kind of tired of pushing it to continue. I'd prefer to be an active member of an established club where I don't have to set the pace! What are you reading right now?
Hi Coleen,
I'm in Fishers and it sounds like we have a lot in common. I too frequent the Half Price Bookstores and for a while I was doing Bookcrossing dropoffs, but nobody ever logged on with the books I left!!!!! Do you participate in any local Book Clubs?
Thank you for your lovely note to me about Josephine B. (This was some time ago, but I'm just now catching up.)

Hi Colleen!

Thanks for adding me as a friend. I don't show on your list of "members with your books," but I wasn't suprised to see that you're up rather high on mine! Love hanging out at your BXing shelf to lust after books, and I'm sure I'll be exploring your library here as well! =)

- Megan
Hi there! I am with you... never buy new when you can get used!
Clearly, you have good taste in authors :)

I saw you in my members with box, and came over to have a look.
I know about Bookcrossing and think its great. I am registered, but have only had a go with it a time or two. I either trade books, donate them to the humane society for their book sale, or trade them... give them, etc..

Anyway... hi there!

kath
Cool! You have great taste too!
Hi, Colleen: You did write me, but I can't find your message either. Perhaps one of my darling sons accidentally deleted it. Sigh! Great to hear from you. I think LT just added "interesting libraries," "friends" and other options this week. I am still playing around...How is the reading going?

=) Jill
How did you like Anansi boys? We seem to like the same books. : )
Hi, Coleen: I am a new user to this site and noticed we have some books in common. And I am working mother of two too! Feel free to look over my catalogue (that I am still building - it's hard to remember everything I've read!) and make any recommendations!

It's nice to meet you!
Jill
Hi Coleen,

Thank you for your enthuastic note on my LT page! I see that we read and love many of the same novels.

Cheers,

Sandra Gulland

P.S. If you want me to include you on the newsletter mailing for my next novel, send me an email through my web site (www.sandragulland.com).
Hi Coleen,
As with others here, we share many books in common. I will look forward to learning what else you will be reading --- and I am happy to share if I would ever get off this web-site and back to my bookshelves!
Happy holidays,
Laura
Hi Coleen, we share quite a few books, and I loved looking at your TBR list!
I should have waited before I sent my first message. I like the way you catagorize your books, ex. book club 2006,etc... I think I am going to revise some of mine. I am in three book clubs and am secretary to 2 of them. Plus I try to read one on my own in between book clubs. My problem is I keep buying new ones and have so many to read. But I am addicted to books and love to read instead of watching the t.v. My two children are teens right now so I have more time than I used to. I think I need to learn how to use the star ratings on mine. Thanks again for your email. Kimberly
Hi Coleen,

Thanks for your comments on my library. I just joined and I really like the site. I will check out your library also. Thanks again. Kimberly
Hi Coleen, I'm just like TanyaReads. After looking at your list, I added even more to my list of books I own or have read. I'll keep checking back to see what you've read since we have so many similarities! Thanks, Beckie
thanks for stopping by my library. it looks like you have some excellent books in your "to be read" stack. enjoy!! ;)
Coleen, I am afraid that I didn't like "The Shadow of the Wind" to give it 5 stars, but I am still glad that I read it. I do agree with you on "The Time Travelers Wife", "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close", "The Lady and the Unicorn", and especially "Life of Pi". Those were all such good books! I am going to start "The Glass Castle" soon. Hope all is well in Indiana!
Hi Coleen! Thanks for looking at my library. We now have more books in common. I was reminded of a couple more books that I had read while perusing yours. I just started "The Shadow of the Wind" because you rated it 5 stars.
Coleen, I'd love to see your ratings of books in your catalog if you have the time to add them and are so inclined. We have a lot of overlap and I'm interested in your opinions of all those great books in your catalog!
Thanks, Jill
