About meSlightly dyslexic geek. I read a heavy load of common American literary pedagogy years ago. Then I went through a large load of feminism and gender studies reading. I'm currently on a non-superhero comics and non-fiction kick. One of my housemates is an English PhD candidate. Another housemate is a scifi/fantasy geek. They feed and care for a toddler with a voracious reading appetite. So I'm surrounded by readers. My library is a small subset of the books in the house.
About my libraryMy library ownership isn't a great indicator of my tastes, so I'm trying to populate the "read but don't own" area as well. Also, the way that comics are evaluated (each trade is a book and the industry model slants me toward owning comics rather than borrowing). This puts a heavy and misleading statistical weight on my comics over traditional books.
In other words, I'm still trying to figure out statistics and useful views. Collapsing series and creating views that only include one entry per series are my current ideas.
Also, my google android G1 phone with a "good enough" built in camera is what's really making this possible. It can serve as a portable barcode reader that can bulk read and submit ISBN numbers over the web. I don't have to bring the books to the computer like a with a cuecat. So I can easily scan the books in the attic, the ones at work, and the ones in various piles around the house.
This is probably also possible with an iPhone or other smart phones that can read barcodes with the camera, have web browsers, and have decent cut-n-paste.
