About meI live on 47ha (116ac) of bushland an hour outside of Canberra, where I'm indulging an obsession with Australian native produce (aka "bush tucker") and growing my own foodstuffs. I vacillate between being a reference librarian and a technical writer ... technical writing pays better but I'll always be a Librarian in my soul ...

About my libraryNon-fiction reflects whatever hobby I'm obsessing over at the time, thus ranaging from O'Reilly computing texts through to permaculture with side-tracks into woodworking and archaeology. Fiction tends towards sci-fi/fantasy, "cosy" crime, and lich'racha :)

Thanks for the info about the book. It sounds interesting but I think I'll move my declining garden books budget into ones with more Australian or NZ native plant info. Thanks for the tip.
Hi there
I noticed you recently added the Field Guide to Herbs and Spices. It looks an interesting and comprehensive title. Can you advise if it's relevant for Australian readers, or is it northern hemisphere oriented? There isn't any info on the LT info page.
Thanks for that - Meera Freeman's book has been added to the huge list that is I WANT :) I'll see you on the bushfoods forum - thank you for that link.
Yes please to the bushfood forum - I'd love to expand my knowledge.

My favourite cookbook at the moment is probably Pleasures of the Vietnamese Table by Mai Pham (it's an American one - I've yet to find a good Vietnamese / Australian but I'm looking. I've looked at a few Maggie Beer books because I do love her and Stephanie Alexander's Tuscan cookbook.

I think my favourite Jill Dupleix book is is Old Food - it's so easy to work from. Probably my favourite indigenous one is the Mark Olive book (which reminds me - I must record that here).
Ah - now that's even more intriguing - which cookbooks do you like (I'm a sucker for a cookbook I confess). I notice you've got some permaculture books as well - we're also working on getting bush tucker plants going at our place in the Dandenong Ranges - it's been quite an experience tracking down plants, but we're slowly getting there.

Thank you for the interesting library connection - nice to see somebody else with chook books :)

Hi Fiona, I was at some of the Forum and saw Abbey speak. And I think you may be right about contact through a certain AICSA choir! Matthew
Thanks for your invite. I was at the innovations forum too - very inspiring!

Kath
Glad to see you here. She accepted an invitation to dinner last night, so we got to know her better. It's not commonly known (at least it wasn't by me) that her college sport was Rugby, so we're trying to get her tickets for the Brumbies-Force match tonight.

Best

Kerry
