About meI work in public libraries and move every few years so keep only special books at home. When I retire I'll probably collect books again. Lately I've been reading European police procedurals and liking them a lot. Perhaps that's what I'll collect. What I most like to read are poetry, noir detective novels and grim police novels, but I'll read anything that has exceptional style.
About my libraryI wish I had begun LibraryThing about three years ago and included books I've read and liked a lot, but not kept. {UPDATE: I've discovered Good Reads, a great place to keep track of what you're reading and exchange reviews with friends. )
What's in my public catalog is literally what's in my house. Most are special for being autographed, first editions of authors I admire, gifts, or books I like to recommend and loan - so I keep a copy around.

I just copied and pasted the code from the Maploco site and it pasted right into the LT edit/profile page's box for About Me. Ditto for NiftyMaps and About My Library. But you already have content in those boxes, I didn't. Maybe you could try positioning your cursor right after (or before, or in the middle of) your text and it would paste? Or temporarily erase your existing content (copy it into a blank Word document for safekeeping), paste in the code, then re-paste your original text back in?
Sorry; not so good at this stuff myself ~ I admire pages that have a small gallery for current reading and books recently read. I asked someone how, who gave me a code but, like you efforts so far, no luck.
These traffic maps are kind of goofy. Recently added NiftyMap and like it a bit more; it picks up 3X the traffic and keeps the markers in place. But MapLoco shows the time of visits, which is kinda cool. Neither map is accurate; visitor numbers & frequency appearing on your map/profile page bear no reflection of reality but if you click on the map, then a list of visitor locations appears. Good luck!

What a delight to have your message show up here. I almost never check for personal messages, and it was truly wonderful to hear from you. Few things make me happier than to hear that someone has read or remembers my book. I'm proud that it has just gone into a fifth printing, and keeps plodding along. I have a book to recommend that will be coming out in September. I've been a reviewer of the book and think it is truly remarkable: Life is a Verb by Patti Digh. She writes an impressive blog: 37days.typepad.com
It was a pleasure to visit Oregon and to meet you and the staff. I owe thanks to Penelope who made the connection. Thanks for writing. If you are ever in this area, please do call me, I'd love to take you to tea.
