What a beautiful name, BTW. ;-)
Favorite travelogues, that's tough, there are so many. But here are my five favorites:
Political: Utopias Elsewhere, by Anthony Daniels. About the remaining totalitarian governments.
Culture: Notes from a Small Island by Bill Bryson. Hilarious, and such a warm and wonderful tribute to the British
Sweet: A Year in Provence by Peter Mayle
History: Out West by Dayton Duncan. He retraces the Lewis and Clark Journey, and in the process gives us an appreciation for people in the West
History: The Journals of Lewis and Clark, edited by Bernard De Voto. The best edit. Other edits can be a long slow slog.
How about yours? And can you tell me about Kindred? I saw it in your books, and have heard a lot about it.
Many thanks for writing. I am enjoying reading your blog. Particularly liked your short by insightful review of The Help. I found the book tremendous. For most of my life I have tended to choose books by male authors, but reading The Help really adjusted my perspective. Since then, I am reading majority female authors, and enjoying the profound differences in perspective.
Take care,
Jim

The Reader was also one of my favorites but I never saw the film (thought it would be a let down even though I like Kate
Winslet)
I see you have added History of Love. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
