About meJeff- I am a R&D chemist by profession. I formulate tape for a living. Chances are you have something I have made at your house. I am interested in astronomy, seismology, HAM radio, amateur science, amateur telescope making, scientific insruments, collecting books, reading, building things, making kites, and many other neglected hobbies.

Pi- I am a librarian with a background in geology. We have a six year old son who is the center of our universe. I work part-time which gives me lots of time to do cool things like spend time with my son and play with LibraryThing. The down side is never having the extra money to spend on necessities like MORE BOOKS! ; ). I share many of the same interests and hobbies as Jeff, but my two favorite things are family and books.

About my libraryThis catalogue is the personal collection of my wife (Pi/314159), and mine (Jeff). We are both avid book lovers and have been collecting books together for 15+ years. We both love old science texts (Instrumentation, Chemistry, Astronomy, Physics, Geology). The amateur science, telescope making, electonics, and DIY books are mine. The children's books and Jane Austen are my wife's. Most of our books come from library book sales, and used book stores. We incorporate these book expiditions in all of our business and pleasure travels. Some were purchased from Amazon, ABE, Ebay, etc.. And yes a few were purchased from retail book stores...but where is the fun in that?

You have 111 unique titles! That's amazing! You should join the "Unique Library Thing Book Group"
I didn't mean to imply that my father wrote the textbooks...
We had a great tie in NC, thanks - spent it mostly by the sea, and I was so thrilled to see the Pelicans, now that's not something we ever get in England.

Best wishes,

P
I really didn't expect to find anyone else with my father's professional textbooks! He was a fellow of the Gemological Society (London), long ago, and bought clocks and jewllery for Harrods in the 1920s/30s. Further connections - I am about to do my MSc Library science, and I'm married to a Chemistry graduate turned Priest! When I get onto cataloguing the books upstairs we'll have more in common - Lewis, Asimov, Bradbury, Adams. Oh, and we had a holiday in N Carolina 2 years ago! Nice to meet you, isn't LT great?
