About meI am an assistant professor at the J. Craig Venter Institute (JCVI). My work is on microbial genomics with a focus on phylogeny and molecular evolution.
Besides evolution, my interests include constructed languages, history (especially the history of science), German, and the culture and history of the former East Germany. I also seem to have become addicted to the "Very Short Introduction" series.
