About meA reader for 50 years, an English graduate married to another English graduate and father of a third English graduate. A member of the London Library, one of the biggest, and certainly the best library in Britain. A Northerner by birth, now living Darn Sarf.

About my libraryAbout half-catalogued so far, just begun tagging. The majority is fiction, with a disproportionate number of British crime novels, and shedloads of PG Wodehouse. Also a smattering of EngLit classics, some history, books about London, and a tiny number of books of science dumbed-down for arts graduates like me. The books themselves are scattered more or less at random about the house, though the 'core' fiction is in more-or-less alphabetical order on the built-in bookshelves in the sitting room.

Thanks for your note - you've got a good-looking library!

I think I'm mostly done now, assuming my wife's Fiction and Art History (several shelves of each) don't get surreptitiously added to try and make me look like more of a renaissance man than I am!

I spend hours on the cover choices, getting the right Ionicus covers to match the right PG Wodehouse titles. Aimless amusement!
I'm quite the Groucho Marxist, but pleased to say I'm unfamiliar with that precious quote. Thanks!
You were there? Ohhh, I'm so jealous!! I love that spot because it's just blocks away from most of my favorite London places. It's been 3 years...but I'll be back!
A melancholy emblem of parish cruelty
