About meMount Vernon, Ohio, stay-at-home dad who likes nonfiction, current affairs, anthropology, green anarcho-primitivism, internationalism. Some fiction, but mostly I want to know: what are people are for?

About my libraryYes, awfully credulous & earnest, overly serious about climate change & end of civilization etc. What world are we making for our kids, is what I want to know? I'm a very blue guy living in a very red town in a pretty red state. My neighbors want the Bible taught in school. Which reminds me! I forgot to enter my Bibles in Librarything! Cheers, -J

Thanks for the comment! Isn't librarything too cool? We do share a good many books, and it's fun finding titles I haven't read. Wendell Berry and Matthew Fox are two of my heroes. I was very briefly in Ukraine (Kiev) in 1978 on foreign study, and we (albeit not very succesfully) hosted an exchange student from Kharkiv last fall. Have you read the novel "A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian"? I got it last month as a gift from a friend who has read it and found it hilarious. I'm looking forward to reading it, but I've increasingly opted to read nonfiction, and have gone back to reading classic novels rather than popular fiction (which I generally save for beach reading!)
