Thanks for the apology -- it was unnecessary but gracious. I do think that if you had posted your in a group that seemed relevant AND said that it was your own blog and why you thought it would be interesting, then it wouldn't seem like self-promotion. It was more the not-up-frontness of it that bothered me than the self-promotion. Best of luck.
Hi there -- you know if you put a message around your link that was just like the one you left on my page, i don't think you'd have any trouble at all! You could even start and thread and ask people for their feedback. You'd probably get some good ideas that way.

I think it would be less seen as "crass self promotion" if you mention it rarely and in the appropriate threads/groups. I think there is a blog thread for instance. Also, it would also come across better if you mention that the link goes to your own blog.
