About my libraryAt the moment I am indexing my large reference library for art, illustration, design, crafts etc, and all aspects of ethnography. Other books on the topics of martial arts and languages may follow...
I make and sell my own books! http://www.lulu.com/cedarseed
In my listing, books that have a rating are books I have reviewed – see Book Info to read it.
Notes about some of my tags:
Ethnography denotes books with a certain amount of depth about one or more cultures.
Cultures means there are pictures and some descriptions of people, but on the "light" side.
Fashion stands for all the following terms: costume, dress, clothing.
Ornament stands for jewelry, accessories and the like.
Hair is a separate tag.
Tags referring to specific ethnic groups are only used when the book includes a significant section on that group.
Art, design and illustration are not used interchangeably. The art tag will not bring up illustration books, etc.
If you're looking for resources, use the tag resource. Any other word will yield a partial list because they refer to functions that may coexist within a book but are sensibly different (I am nitpicky this way):
Reference means a collection of samples to look up, whether or not there is educational material included (e.g . Animals in Motion, a font sampler).
Primer is an introduction to a subject (e.g Arabic Typography).
Guide is an exhaustive primer listing all aspects of a subject (e.g. World Textiles)
Tutorials teaches how to make something, usually step-by-step (e.g. bookmaking).
Study includes a study of how the subject is applied in real life (e.g. Design for Children)
Workbook is something to prop open and use during the work process itself.
