About meI'm a blessed wife to Anthony and a SAHM of five beautiful children: Ethan 11, Lauren 10, Cayden 7, Aria 3 and Airelin 4 months. I homeschool my children and am very interested in Classical Education.

I am a disciple of the Great Teacher, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I love studying my Bible, reading books that draw me closer to Him, and sharing Him with others. My life has recently been turned upside down by the doctrines of grace. I consider my understanding of the Scriptures to be identified as reformed baptist with historic premillennial leanings.

Other than reading books, I love to play piano, paint, sew, draw, make crafts, read blogs, have friends over, listen to music and dine out! I am involved with home school, real estate, book clubs, Classical Conversations, homeschool co-ops and organizing Bible study groups.

About my libraryMy library consists of carefully chosen books that are for edification, discipleship, growth and study that will help me (and others!) to glorify God and have a greater knowledge of Him who loved me and gave Himself for me. Not all books in my library reflect my views, however, they are helpful for me to understand the diverse interpretations I encounter.

Does anyone have a recommendation for an inexpensive, but reliable, bar code scanner / pen? Has anyone used one to load their library on LibraryThing? How does that work? Do you click inside the search bar and then scan the bar code to populate the field? Thanks for the help!
yea, I used my bar code pen. Pretty cool.
I'm working on it. Library books don't have their own envelope so they come from my allowance.
I recommend anything by Nancy Leigh DeMoss. She is thoroughly Biblical, and a gifted teacher, especially in person. In fact, she's a better teacher than she is a writer, but I get a lot out of her books just the same. "Attitude" is actually just a pamphlet, really, but it's well worth reading through a few times.

We have "Stop Dating the Church," (though not cataloged yet; waiting to get a lifetime account next month), but I haven't read it yet. Being married to a pastor, we're not in the habit of "church dating," but I know there are probably principles in it that I need to learn just as far as my attitude toward my own church goes. I too have heard good things about it.

Any other good suggestions? I have a pretty full bookstack by the bed, but I'm always looking for books to add! :-)
Also, if you want another great book on marriage, check out "Helper By Design" by Elyse Fitzpatrick. She's another author I highly recommend with no reservations. I've had the privilege of hearing her speak on a number of occasions, and am convinced she is thoroughly Biblical. Her book, "Idols Of The Heart" was transforming for me.
Hi! Thanks for your kind comments re. my reviews. With the wealth of material out there, I like to be able to highlight anything I think especially worthy of one's time...OR point to things best to stay away from. :-) I haven't fully cataloged our library, either - got most of the way through my "women's interest" section, but I still have my husband's pastoral library and some fiction to add. Have a blessed day!
Yes, I marked your library b/c we do seem to share many interests! Have you started your school year yet? We will start right after Labor Day. It will be interesting with my 10-month-old crawling/toddling all about! It looks like you may have a 3 month old from your profile?

Have a good day!
Jackie
JULES: Your welcome. My sister, Juli, goes by Jules, too. Thank you for correcting me on my mistaken assumption, but I'm glad that it works both ways. Congratulations on your four pebbles. I hope that you can instill in them the love of reading, especially God's Word. Keep on reading and being conformed to the image of Christ. LARRY
Thank you for writing me! I didn't notice your comment today and it made me smile. It's nice meeting you, please feel free to keep in touch! Jeanette
JULIANNA: Your user name, "Julesnpebbles", caught my attention. I am guessing that it comes from Hannah Hurnard's "Hind's Feet on High Places". The Lord brought me to Himself when I was eight. A somewhat-distant relative always gave me a book for my birthday. That year it was "Pictorial Pilgrim's Progress" that was published by Moody Press in 1962. They recently reprinted the book. It wasn't until a couple years ago that I realized that John Bunyan's writing led me to Jesus Christ. Allegory like "Pilgrim's Progress" and "Hind's Feet on High Places" have a special place in my heart. My dear wife, Nora, is a SAHM. We have five girls and two boys. Nora has a small business called, "Redeemed Treasures". She is also involved with Toastmasters. Our oldest two daughters are out on their own. We have five teens this summer. My sister's name is Julie Ann, but she dropped the "Ann" and the "E" and goes by Juli or Jules. God bless you and your husband, Anthony, in raising your children "in the fear and admonition of the Lord." YANGGUY
I read your review of Blue Like Jazz and I like it, but I can see what you mean. Of course with the Emergent movement, that's kind of the direction more people are going, choose the religion that you like. But he was challenging in some ways--just kind of outside the box view.

I have a question; I've read Sacred Marriage, but not Sacred Parenting. How do they compare? I'm a SAHM expecting our first baby in April.
Hi, saw you at SL and added you to my watch list...we own 3 books the same I think.
