About meI'm a book hoardin', arts lovin', film watchin', podcast listen-in', music enjoyin', kinda gal.

I like yarns of both varieties, the kind that are spun with words and the kind I can make into neckwarmers or tease kittens with.

Science, theories of mind and philosophy stir my pot as does a bit o' history and a well written essay.

Hey June,

I see you've recently added The Wind Up Bird Chronicle. I've been blathering to practically everybody how awesome that book is (just picked it up this past weekend) and how I can't believe until just now I'd never bothered checking this Haruki Murakami guy out. Amazing writer. Have you read any of his stuff?
Hi,

Was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here as well as a few other book-related sites. Saw you liked Butcher Boy, and I thought you might like my novel since it's also about a disturbed adolescent and a bit dark. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like. Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:

Thanks,

I know, I'm sorry. After the group got red flagged 5 times literally in a matter of minutes this afternoon once the posts started getting heated and heading in a very non-humorous direction I didn't anticipate nor could contain, I decided to pull the plug on it (for now). I'll probably repost it, say, around St. Patrick's Day when everyone's had a few and fragile feelings aren't so easily hurt. Or maybe on Superbowl Sunday, that's an idea, when no one's looking, we'll see. Sorry you missed it. How's the War & Peace going?
Its terrible to have a nice number of books like "555" and know it is not going to last.
Hi june,

Just trolling these bookish waters enjoying your library. I saw you have the only copy of Eric Bogosian's, Sex, Drugs & Rock 'n Roll (nice acquisition). Is that one of his one man plays by any chance? I've lost touch with his work over the years (except for seeing him occasionally & quite surprisingly on Law&Order: Criminal Intent). Is it any good? Is he as indignant at everything and everybody as ever? I certainly hope so! I loved his performance in Talk Radio way back when.

Btw, have you heard of Hannah Holborn? She's a writer here in lt.com not too far from you (Vancouver) whose first collection of stories -- Fierce -- comes out Dec. 30th. I think she's definitely an author on the rise, and what's cool too is she's friendly & responsive. I'm sure she'd like hearing from a fellow Canadian lit lover.

Feliz Navidad!
