If philosophy was a Star Trek role playing game (and I secretly suspect it is) Randians would be the Klingons.

You could start with the Norman and Jeanne MacKenzie book "The First Fabians" which has some material on the clash of views between Shaw and Wells around relationships. Take a look also at Beatrice Webb's diaries. I'm happy to help with further recommendations.
