About meMy book collection probably proves that I have reader's multiple personality disorder.

About my libraryAfter entering most of my books, I've realized that I own an absolutely obscene amount of books either in German or about some aspect of germanic cultures.

Disclaimer: Items tagged 'mom' were gifts from my mother. They don't necessarily represent my reading choices.

My brother has 'borrowed' a number of my books and I fear that I will never see them again.

Sometimes I tag books I've read as unread to encourage myself to re-read them. I realize this is weird and I do not care.

I think I might know you... (810)

:o)
Nothing wrong with lots of German books. I've got a few too, in fact I starting by listing only the German-related stuff. I discovered lots of books I'd forgotten I had, and that brought back memories of times abroad.

I took a look at your blog--all those pictures of food has made me hungry--going for a snack.
Addiction. Yes, but a healthy one. I couldn't wait to get home this afternoon and add another shelfworth.
It sounds like you've got a solid place to work in for your diss. I'm also planning the proposal defense-- I like the image of trying to herd cats. :) Good luck. I'm hoping the defense will happen before the end of January-- I need to get lots done over this break though. Once I finish grading the stuff from this semester, that is. (sigh)
Hi k8s! I just saw the comment you left for me-- sorry I didn't get back sooner. I'm focusing on how critical race theory and whiteness studies can inform comp/rhet-- primarily pedagogically. I'm getting my diss proposal together now.

What's your diss topic? (sounds like a weird academic pick-up line, doesn't it? :)

You said that you didn't have time to read anything beyond grad school - and I totally understand. I got my MA in English Lit, and it kinda killed my love of reading for a few years after graduation. ;-)

Please feel free to join us in the conversations, because regardless of whether you're in a book club or not, it's great to share thoughts with others who love books - and it's a great way to meet new friends.

Cheers & good luck in your studies,
Jen
'siyo!

Congrats on the Cs! No, my prop wasn't accepted, but I think I'll be helping with a workshop so I'm still planning on going. Yipe, it will be expensive. I just got on facebook, I'll look you up!

Cool! I presented at the last FemRhet conference, and I was part of a workshop at the Cs in Chicago and SF. I submitted to the NYC one too. We should hear in the next few weeks, enit?
PS:

I forgot to say, my work focuses on Cherokee performance rhetorics.

'siyo/hi,

My semester starts Monday. I'm excited, but have had some problems getting the books I'm using in time. Oh well. I finished my core comp this summer, and will be doing my concentration exam in the next month or so, and hopefully be ABD before September. Do you go the the Cs? If so, did you send in a proposal for 2007?

Donadagohv'i,

Qwo-Li
Wa'do/Thanks for the resources! I will be looking at them over the next couple of days! Has your semester started yet?
Take Care!
you have some good books!
