About meEnglish major with a techie side and a lot of books.... LT is my dream web site. As I entered my titles I was amazed by how many subjects my collections spans and how many books only I have. Guess it's time to yield to my friends' opinion that I am eclectic.

About my library400 books and counting. There are still a few books lurking in cabinets and closets, and some that didn't immediately link to an ISBN that will have to be entered some other way.

The good news is that LT has helped me (re-)organize my books. I actually emptied, cataloged, dusted and re-filled my bookshelves. Some shelving categories were even rearranged.

The best news is that the cataloging process uncovered books I'd misplaced or forgot I had, and I have re-read a few and even loaned out one to a friend.

Hi, Karen--

It's been forever since I've been on LibraryThing. I'm afraid I've gotten very addicted to Facebook. I will definitely have a look at your library. I didn't know there were any disaster books out there that I didn't already own!

The name furdog was from my Pekingese (whose name was actually Precious). She is not with me anymore, unfortunately. I just have to share that picture of Charlie Cat in the books 'cause it's so adorable. I have 8 cats, but no dogs at this point.

I am so far behind on cataloging books I've bought in the last few months. But since everyone on Facebook seems to have headed out into the real world to celebrate Memorial Day, I think I'll work on getting caught up here.

Thanks for sending me a message!

Furdog (Deb)
Greetings, Karen51, I share your practice of cataloging only what I own, but not what I've borrowed and read. I have discovered several interesting titles from looking at other members' lists. My "reserved" list at my library has grown quite a bit since I signed on to LT. Alas, so has my wish list at Amazon. I am on a month-long medical leave recovering from routine foot surgery. My project for the month is cataloging my books. What a great resource LT is! I have now added your library to my list of interesting libraries.
Dear Mademoiselle,

I am an unpunctual correspondent at best. While my affairs permit me to be within doors, I am too apt to take up a book and to forget the calls of the writing-table.
This must apologize for my being so late in acknoleging your favor of Sept. 23.
I beg you to await the eventuall cataloguing of all my library, whereafter I surmise we may find that we have more in common than merely Messrs. Homer and Chaucer.

Yrs., &c.
Hi Karen, thanks for your comment regarding "A Memory of Solferino". Regarding the book by Caroline Moorhead, I haven't read that one straight from start to finish. Instead, I use it to look up specific names, places etc. via the excellent index. For a moving first-hand account of Red Cross field work, I highly recommend "Warrior without Weapons" by former ICRC delegate Marcel Junod, first published in 1951 and reprinted in 1982. You will usually find several reasonably-priced used copies via Abebooks. Best Regards, Uwe (UWde)
Hello, a fellow Ny'er here....I have to agree with you about the NYPL...its the best....i am constantly going to my local library...thank god for the online catalog...i'd be lost without it...happy reading....mamachunk from NY
You've got the Cleanth Brooks American Lit anthology. Not many people used that one in school, but it's the best.
