About me Like, ok, so like, I was at the mall, and I was like OMG, and then like I saw this totally hot show and then they were all like 'read books' and I was all like, 'I don't know' because like, they're books, but then like my friend talked to her boyfriend and then he talked to some of his friends and then like it got back to my husband to like try out this site and so like, y'know I just joined one day and so yeah.

Oh but this one time I like was reading and it was totally not hot and so like then I had to like go around but then I totally found like a place that wasn't so over and then like I joined it and it has been like, so with it, y'know? I mean like it has like this weird or whatever name or something and I like think it's like not meant to be um serious or whatever but it's like the Green Dragon and like how much more can you be off the normal scale and like stuff, right?

Anyway I was like talking to like this friend and she said I should like um write but yeah, that's like taking efforts or something. So then I got like a cat and like he had like this totally swirl tail and then she was all like, 'he's like broken!' and I was all like, 'that's like not nice to say and stuff!' and so yeah, she totally didn't decide on my cat for me. And then like I totally thought I could name him Chaos y'know for like all the chaos he was causing and right?

Oh then like there was this one time where I totally was like surfing for um some like photos or something online and then like I found like this picture and there was like um, this guy and he was all hot and so like I like emailed him with y'know just 'what's up' and stuff and he like responded and then we like got together and like it was y'know cool and then like y'know we like just moved in together got married like stuff right? I mean, it's not like the first time in the history of ever or whatever.

Well so anyway yeah. I'm like totally reading or writing or something now. Whatever. I have to like work until school like is open or something next year and stuff. Like, placement. So yeah, I like keep working and yeah and so my friend was like so wrong I can write like y'know for reals and stuff.

Yeah, I mean, like, y'know?

Oh like in response or whatever to like um the comments and stuff like well yeah I mean like it's not like y'know the classics were all that hot or whatever I mean like, they could totally use like some kind of new like updates or something like hot, I mean, right? I mean like old or whatever writers didn't like have a market on like y'know the world writing or something. I mean, you can totally look at like the Laurell K. Hamilton novels or something for like real classics in like authoring or something.

I mean, they could so use some of like her like way of writing in like these whatever novels or something.

(All right, all right. I can't take complete credit for this... It's shamelessly semi-inspired by many one-star amazon reviews of classic literature...)

About my library My library seems to have received a number of odd comments over the years, and as many of these comments have embedded themselves into my brain, I have found myself tagging certain books with the same virus-like comments. (When clicking on any of the links -- be SURE to also click on the SEARCH button on the right as it doesn't actually register the search until you do! odd!)

Behold! I now have my very own, "THE APOCALYPSE IS UPON US! HUMAN DISASTER IS AT HAND!" section appropriately tagged with 'apocalypse'. After all, one cannot be too certain as to when you might need a book on how to cure olives. I mean, who wants to deal with sick olives?!

Then of course is the ever popular, "If it doesn't have ANY real science in it, why call it SCIENCE fiction?" section. I have of course made sure that most entries do indeed carry real science (or a semblance thereof). These books are unceremoniously tagged, 'science fiction'. Any and all books that do not contain extrapolated real science are appropriately tagged, 'science fantasy'. Not that we will be including too many of THOSE kind of books here, nosiree.

Since I have a morbid fascination with Psychology and Abnormal Psychology, according to comments from some of my friends, I have thus tagged all of my morbid books on how messed up humans are in their brains with 'psychology'. This group can be further sub-divided by including other tags such as 'textbook' (for school), 'fiction' (for fun), 'philosophy' (for morbid fascination), or 'sociology' (for even MORE morbid fascination!).

I have many programming, developing, and implementing books of a technical nature in my library, and not only have I tagged them with their topical association, I have also ingeniously added WHICH technical language applies to the book. How incredibly original of me! In this group, you can expect to find tags like, 'ruby', 'rails', 'web development', 'programming', 'css', etc. It truly takes a certain kind of mind to develop these classification systems -- only the best and brightest of the programming world, as you know.

My Vegetarian/Vegan selection of cookbooks, recipe books, project books, and similar are tagged just how my grandma used to do it. Her homecooked style is baked right in for a taste of tagging you can't get anywhere else. Look for old classics such as 'recipes', 'cooking', 'vegan', 'vegetarian', and 'canning' when you want that fresh-from-the-oven, hug-from-the-inside feeling. Or for something a little more colourful, try a taste of adventure with the 'apocalypse' tag.

If you'd like to walk on the wild side, you could always pick from my eccentric grab bag of tags and take your pick from the following (I WARN YOU, SOME OF THESE MAY BE SHOCKING! PARENTS AT HOME, PLEASE BE ADVISED!): 'literature', 'classics', 'language', 'buddhism', or 'philosophy'. WOAH THERE NELLY!

Eventually, I will get a complete record of my library, including all of the books that were stolen out of my car one day when I went to buy some coffee beans during the holiday season. It's quite difficult, however, when things are in storage boxes all over the world. No, really, I mean that literally.

And wasn't that sweet of you! Big thank-yous! I already have a cocnut palm, but it's single-headed and struggling (we live almost 2000 ft above Durban, and it's quite a lot cooler here than in town). Thanks again for the heads-up.
See, now I want "Green Eggs and Ham" in Latin. And it's all your fault.

In my mind's eye I see the perfect Xmas gift for everyone I know ........
PDE actually flew in one night and dragged me off with him 10,000 miles away.

The wife and I moved from Louisiana to Michigan about three months after we got married so that I could go to grad school. Best decision we ever made. We really learned to lean on each other and separate from our individual families, and it's held us in good stead for the last 23 years. Best of luck to you and PDE!

sorry dad, I'm less mechanically inclined than a blind rabbit, as well as being a total klutz!
I'll keep you away from my spacecraft then...8^}
To this day, I STILL love them as my own personal favourite #1 space opera, and STILL don't see ANYTHING wrong with the way he portrayed women (the feminists will be dragging me off to assertiveness camp for that one...). :)

I've always thought of sf from that era like comfort food. Something that's probably not the healthiest around, but sure does make you feel good and ain't gonna kill you. Besides, I always thought Doc managed to put some fairly modern messages about diversity into the stories - tolerance and understanding of alien cultures, acceptance of species different from humans as equals, even his women characters seem real instead of cardboard cutouts like some stories of the time. First time I ever saw my last name in print - I'm one of the Kinnison clan...

Admittedly we've just recently met, but I think you'd give anyone trying to drag you off a pretty good run for their money...8^}
I saw Doc Smith's Lensman series in PDE's library, and he mentioned you're the one that got him interested. Smith's my all time favorite space opera writer, and I figure I should keep an eye on the library of anybody else who's read his stuff...So, I added yours as in interesting library!

Your profile reads like the Paris Hiltonization (yep, I just made that badboy up) of T-dawg Pynchon: Funny and a sour pucker to the mind... kind of like juicing a lemon with your eyeball.
I should have liked almost all of their works and I've liked absolutely nothing by them.

I disagree in the particular, but wow, do I agree with the general case -- I too am finding more and more stuff that I SHOULD like, but which simply doesn't work for me.

- Bob
Yes, that would indeed be me. Nice to see you here. :)
WELCOME!!!
Be warned. We are a ROWDY bunch. :o)
