About meI am married with no children (and no plans for any!). I was a history and political science major in college, but I read mostly fiction - anything from politcal thrillers to historical fiction to "chick" lit to acknowledged classics. My non-fiction reading tends toward the traumatic childhood memoir, history, and geopolitical and cultural studies.

My 2013 75 Books Challenge thread is HERE.

About my libraryMost of the books included in my catalogue are ones I own or have read on loan from others or the library since starting on Library Thing. Those in the "Read but Unowned" collection are ones I have read but no longer have in my possession. I am only entering reviews for books I've read since joining LT. As for my rating system:

1 star = awful
2 stars = disappointing
3 stars = solid & reasonably enjoyable
4 stars = very good
5 stars = excellent

However, all this is, of course, very subjective, and some of the ratings are based on my memories of the book rather than a recent reading of it. And my "favorites" (4 and 5 star books) range from 19th century literature to cheesy contemporary romance - if it served me well in some way(opened a whole new world to me, offered me escape, or comforted me during heartbreak for instance), it gets a high rating.

Hi Katie,

Great review of Ruby! Another book for the wishlist :)

Mary Ann
How in the WORLD do you know Anita Nouryeh? Her parents are old friends of mine!

I was thinking exactly the same thing. I figured you would want to visit that Half Price books and there are lots of places to eat there. I haven't been there in ages (really, AGES) so it would be nice to see what is out there.

I work that Wednesday so you are stuck with the hubs on your own! :P Looks like Monday it is. Whatever you want to do is fine with me. If there is a restaurant you want to to try I am game. Book browsing and buying works for me too.
Are you still coming to Houston 4th-8th? If yes, I am available 4th, 5th or 6th. Let me know what works best for you.

No problem, my friend. Just glad you got it. Thanks again. Mark
Hi Katie- I just heard from Michael. Here is the registration link:

They will also be asking about these local tours. I don't think I will have time to do these but I would love to squeeze in the brewery one.
Just read your terrific review of "The End of Your Life Book Club". Loved hard to go against everyone else, but your thoughts were both entertaining and to the point.
Hi, Katie. I see we are both headed for Boulder in May. Did you make reservations at the hotel which Booktopia mentioned? I am hesitating because I'm in the middle of this big "selling my house" deal and I'm not sure I want to pay for the hotel right now. Do you know anything about Boulder? Like maybe where we might find a lodging a wee bit more "middle class" in price? I am so excited to have a Library Thing Meet-Up! I have not yet met one LT person who I did not just love immediately. Book people do know how to play well with friends, don't we.

Happy third Thingaversary, Katie! What four books are you giving yourself as a celebration?
Katie! Is it possible you've only been around LT for 3 years? I enjoy reading your reviews and "seeing" you around the 75er Challenge group. I hope you are able to celebrate your Thingaversary in style!
Thanks so much for your review of *Achilles*. I'm another one who didn't get it --- except I think that I did and you did too. Much ado about not very much.
Katie, I'm sorry. I'm just now seeing your messages (!) about where to put *Kindly Ones* in TIOLI. I surely didn't mean to undercut you.
