About meAward-winning author Kelli Stanley writes crime fiction (novels and short stories).

CITY OF DRAGONS--an explosively dark novel set in 1940 San Francisco, and introducing ex-escort and PI Miranda Corbie--will be published by St. Martin's Minotaur on February 2, 2010.

A small-time Japanese gangster is murdered in Chinatown ... and no one wants to know why. Miranda defiantly pursues the truth, uncovering searing racial hatreds and a legacy of pain and exploitation.

Kelli's debut novel, NOX DORMIENDA (A Long Night for Sleeping) (Five Star; July, 2008), won the Bruce Alexander Memorial Historical Mystery Award, has been nominated for a Macavity Award (Sue Feder Memorial Historical Mystery Award,) and draws upon her academic background in Classics for its first century Roman Britain setting.

The book broke new genre ground as the first "Roman noir", a pun on its unique combination of Chandler-esqe hardboiled style and rich historical texture.

Thorndike Press published a large print edition in October, 2008. NOX will also be published in Italy and Greece as a paperback.
