Noticed you liked She's Come Undone, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here as well as a few other book-related sites. Thought you might like my book since it's also about a disturbed young girl's downward spiral and a bit dark. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like (I'm out of physical copies at the moment). Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:

Thanks,

Hi, Kris. No, I haven't read any of the books you mentioned. I'm not sure I've even heard of them, but I'll check them out because you seem to know about the good books. Two excellent ones I've read recently (besides a whole bunch of Robert Parker mysteries that I got for my sick husband, and have ended up reading myself) are The Year of Living Biblically by A.J. Jacobs, which I loved and will be using with two reading groups, one a church group and one for a group of pastors; and Same Kind of Difference as Me by Ron Hall and Denver Moore, a book I had a little bit of trouble getting into and ended up being crazy about. Blessings, Martha Huntley
Hi, Kris. I've been reading about The Year of Magical Thinking and 19 Minutes -- both sound interesting, but I haven't tried to get either yet. I'm reading The Great Deluge about Hurricane Katrina which is harrowing but marvelous. It tells in a chronological timeline exactly what everybody did and didn't do, and has tons of fascinating and some heartbreaking stories of people who went through it. I started it the week before the 2nd year anniversary. And at the same time I read a wonderful book, Take This Bread by Sara Miles, the story of a most unlikely convert to Christianity (from atheism), a very upbeat and surprising book -- similar to books by Anne Lamott if you know her. There's another nonfiction book I want to start shortly, called Caring for Mother by Virginia Owens, and I just finished listening to a wonderful audio book -- A Country Year, so beautifully written it left me breathless at times. Thanks for staying in touch! Martha
Whatcha reading at the moment Kris? Martha Huntley
Thanks for your suggestions, Kris. I just finished reading the new Annie Dillard book "The Maytrees". I highly recommend it to you. It's a simple romance that is poetic and "real world".

Shelley
Kris,

When you have a moment, would you take a look at my library and make a few recommendations for fiction reading, please?

Shelley
