About meI am a hoarder, but am obviously a lightweight compared to some of the users here. I love music, have a moderately sized collection of rock'n'roll vinyl, mostly 70s and 80s, and lots of cds as well (much easier to shelve for sure but much less aesthetically pleasing than real albums.) Yes, I still have a turntable which I play through my vintage Sansui G9000 stereo receiver. Now that I have finished adding my library another time-consuming project is to convert those old record albums into digital format.
I play guitar and bass, work for the phone company, and love my Netflix and dvr.

About my libraryI worked on cataloging my collection over the course of several months. It certainly cut into my leisure time, but I love having found a way to conveniently and definitively take stock of my books. I still need to work on tagging and adding photos of missing covers.
I have a lot of old paperbacks from the 70s and 80s, mostly science fiction and horror, the great majority of them not specially cared-for other than keeping them shelved and dusted once in a while.

Hi,

Was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here as well as a few other book-related sites. Saw you liked Paris Trout, and thought you might like my novel since it's also southern and a bit dark (in the same vein as Paris Trout). I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like. Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:

Thanks,

Hi, i can't resist saying hello given your userid. I'm pretty new to LibraryThing, but i can't believe the weird lines of congruence in our shared books. Then again, maybe it's just because you have 2,000 cataloged...? Another odd thing, in your author cloud, i can't see Farmer, however Kilogore Trout is huge. Freakin' me out, man.

Anyway, ave atque vale, kickaha!
Hi, I noticed several chess titles in your catalog and thought you may like to check my forum site out- www.ChessForums.org, we have a dedicated section to chess books and recommended reading you may be interested in, thanks, Greg
"...Come on, man. I doubt if you'd recognize a hippie. I'm a capitalist, baby. I work for my living, not suck off somebody else..."

Ready to bring on the surprises and enjoying learning about you.
Welcome for Helliconia. As for Palliser's Quincunx, I agree with you. An excellent book.
Ooh, I'm going to have to have a good nose around your library now.
