About meHi!
I'm a student of art history, a compulsive books buyer, a curious reader, a photographer of nature, a friend of cats, a french speaking canadian (english is my second language), a coffee addict, a night owl and also I laugh easily, but I'm very timid and don't speak much. :-)

About my libraryI love to read many kinds of books, but mainly I love historical fiction, history, vampires and fiction ones. I am particulary interested in ancient Rome and Greece, and also asian culture in general. I have been listing the books I read since 2002, and I plan to add as many a I can here, although for now I am mostly updating the books I want to read in 2009.

I decided to join the 999 challenge next year, which is crazy since I haven't read that many books in 2008 and my course load was lighter than it will be in 2009. But,there's nothing like a challenge to give you the necessary motivation!

Plus, if I fail to read the 81, I can always aim at the 75 books challenge, which would be slightly easier! This challenge having no category restriction, I will be able to count in it the books for school, which should help me reach the goal! Haha! :-)

My Ratings go like this:
***** (Favorites! I very rarely give 5 stars to a book)
**** (Very good)
*** (Good, not great)
** (It was ok...)
* (Didn't like it)

I just noticed that I have read all of the "books our libraries share" except one (Emma), although I read the "Hundred Years of Solitude" in English translation. That Garcia Marquez book is one of my favorite novels of all time, as is "Handmaid's Tale". I laughed upraoriously at "A Confederacy of Dunces". I own a signed first edition of "The Historian" and attended a book signing she did, but must admit I abandoned the book midway because I could not quite suspend disbelief -- the vampires seemed more conceivable than her plot. "Pillars of the Earth" sufferred from the same "stretch" towards the end, though I did finish that one. Wondered what your opinions are of these books ...
Hey Karyn,

Thanks for the recommendations. I will check them out. My favorite fantasy author is Jacqueline Carey. I love the Kushiel's Legecy Series. Btw, gorgeous website!

Oh, your doing both! Very cool. Maybe I will too.
Hi! Thanks for saying hello. I see you are doing the 2009 75 Challenge. Good luck! Can you recommend a favorite fantasy novel?

Leah
Bonjour!
Bonne lecture.
Welcome to LT, and welcome to the 2009 75 Books Challenge group. Thanks for joining in!
Thanks for adding me to your interesting libraries list. It's a wonderful compliment. I LOVE your kitty --is it/she/he the one named "kay". Look forwarded to seeing what you add to your library, but in the meantime welcome! This is a great group and I hope you'll enjoy all the interaction.
