About meI'm a voracious reader but nonetheless I never quite manage to read as much as I'd like. I currently read a wide range of books, though my library does appear to be mostly dominated by science fiction novels due to a few years of reading almost exclusively in that genre. I also like to read non fiction books, particularly popular science and history. I also read comic books, though only in the collected form (graphic novels or trade paperback collections). When I'm not reading I mostly spend my time watching films, both at home and at the cinema. I am, in short, somewhat of a nerd.
About my libraryI started to record the books I was reading towards the end of 2004 and around the same time I switched from predominantly reading library books to buying my own books. Therefore, this is mainly a catalogue of books that I own and have read in the past 4-5 years. Some of them are listed as 'read but unowned' because they represent library books or books that I read but then discarded. Others are books that I own but have not read yet - an ever growing to-read pile. There are some omissions (I could add approximately another 50-100 books if I was being thorough here) but this is a fair representation of my library.
The rating scale used is an entirely subjective one, where a rating of five stars indicates a book that I loved, four stars a book that I really liked, three starts a book that I mostly enjoyed, two stars a book that I didn't like and one reserved for books that I truly loathed. Most of the ratings are skewed towards the positive end, as I tend not to finish or keep books that I really disliked.
I've tagged the books with quite broad labels, and it's worth noting that different genres are not segregated on my shelf - all fiction, genre fiction and non fiction are shelved together, with the only breaks from the alphabetical organisation being due to oversized or undersized books and hardbacks. I also have approximately 150-200 graphic novels that I will more than likely add in the future.
