First: yes, I do find LT reliable. In the over two years I have been a member, there was only one really catastrophic episode of downtime. Something like 2 days. But, no data was lost or anything. You just couldn't use the site. There have been smaller downtimes of a few hours but not very often. When I have a computer at home, I am usually on here every day!
If you create a group for your parishoners, homeschoolers, etc., and they enter books, then you can "see" what others in the group have entered. I think there is a search box on the groups home page to "search group members' libraries" or something like that. The only glitch would be people (like me) who enter books they don't actually own. I enter books we check out from the library, books I want to buy or read in the future, etc. Also, someone might own a book, but be unwilling or unable to share it at the time. So you might want to agree that all of the members tag the books they have and are willing to loan with something like "share" or "avail" to show that you can ask for it.
That's about it. Good luck and let me know how it goes! Maybe I'll tackle something like this for our homeschool group.
