GroupsHoosier Bibliophiles, University of Southern Indiana
About meI'm a 24-year-old history and economics major at the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville, Indiana. I am a conservative Libertarian and a high school marching band instructor.
I'm an exercise nut and a somewhat decent trombonist, and I do some composing on the side, though nothing that's ever been performed.
My hobbies include writing, conlanging and conworlding, computer programming, writing, philosophy, canoeing, backpacking, and fishing
I'm a huge fan of jazz artists such as Dave Brubeck and Miles Davis; I also love Steely Dan.
I love Microsoft Flight Simulator.
About my libraryEvery book I have listed here is a book I actually own; the number of books I have read far exceeds that. Since I signed up I've been adding 10-20 books a day, and I'll keep doing that until I'm caught up--this may take months.
My books run the gamut from literary fiction (especially Russian and 20th-century American writers) philosophy (lately I've been really interested in the philosophy of mind and the history of philosophy) to social commentary and history (especially Russian history--yes, I'm a Russophile) and books on mathematics and physics, and several O'Reilly computer books. I also have a limited selection of biographies.
As far as fiction is concerned, being a Russophile I'm naturally a huge fan of Solzhenitsyn (Greatest. Writer. Ever.), Dostoyevsky, Gogol, Chekhov, and Tolstoy. I also enjoy American authors such as Jack London, John Irving, John Steinbeck, Ernest Hemingway, Ayn Rand, and Tom Clancy.
