About meYou'll learn all you need to know from the books on the shelves:

children's books (Not only do I have children, I once aspired to write children's literature and may do so again); cook books (nothing solves the problem of survival like a good meal); poetry (meter and rhyme and succinct observation could go a long way toward solving the world's problems); Science Fiction (we are nothing if we have no future); Fantasy (we are dead if we have no dreams); history (to learn from, I hope); Art (to inspire). What else do you see? Feel free to leave a comment.

About my libraryThe library is like a Rorschach test: what you see in it is what you want to see. I look at and categorize the books to remind myself of who I once was, I read them to discover who I am. The picture is always changing.

That's quite true. Some of them have been read several times. Like the Belgariad and Mallorean series by David Eddings. I had to buy new copies because I'd read them so many times they were looking pretty bad.
Or the Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever series by Stephen Donaldson. Another series read over and over.
There aren't that many books/authors out there that hit me like those do. I get so lost in those stories that when I come up for a reality check, it takes a moment or two to remember where I am!
Nearly all of Mercedes Lackey and Andre Norton's books do the same thing. I'm very loyal to some writers that affect me so much.
Luckily I'm discovering some newer writers that really write well too. Some are new writers and some are new to me.
Have you read anything from Joe Lansdale? I discovered him last year and promptly went out and bought everything of his I could find!
I could go on for a while, but I'll save you and stop here.

Type at ya later,

brett
That's funny about the book. there must not be many copies around. I'd never even heard of it or Feral until I saw it listed online.
I still haven't read it either. Like you, I'm slowly becoming aware of just how large my TBR pile is. My Librarything inventory just hit 3500 and about half of that is unread. Pretty bad, huh?
I'm a confirmed bookaholic. So far this year, I've added nearly 400 books to my library, if not more!

Rorschach has always been my favorite too. He's just crazy enough to make sense.

Thanks for the tip on the graphic novel. I'll have to check it out. I used to collect a LOT of comics. Still have about 45 short boxes crammed full. Really need to get rid of them! The last couple years, I've been getting graphic novels and trade paperbacks a lot more often. Makes for a better read.

If you read "The Darkness and the Damned" before I do, send me a review.

Later,

Boy! That threw me for a moment. I remembered the book, but not when or where I got it. I had to go look for it. I either got it from eBay, BookMooch.com or PaperBackSwap.com. I believe it was eBay though. It's an autographed, unread copy. I haven't even read it yet. My TBR pile is so HUGE now, it's not even funny!
Good to see I'm not the only one with it! Have you read it yet? What did you think?

brett

PS. Was Rorschach your favorite from Watchmen too? He was/is mine. I reread it 3/4 times a year and still haven't gotten tired of it!
