Wade" by Ann Fessler, "The Story of Jane: The Legendary Underground Feminist Abortion Service" by Laura Kaplan, "As Nature Made Him: The Boy Who Was Raised as a Girl" by John Colapinto, and "Doctors of Conscience: The Struggle to Provide Abortion before and after Roe v. Wade" by Carol Joffe), but I also love anything by writers from "This American Life" (especially "The Partly Cloudy Patriot by Sarah Vowell, "The Commitment: Love, Sex, Marriage, and My Family" by Dan Savage, and "Me Talk Pretty One Day" by David Sedaris), plays ("Wit" by Margaret Edson, "Arcadia" by Tom Stoppard, "Antigone" by Sophocles, "Proof" by David Auburn, and "Metamorphoses" by Mary Zimmerman are my longstanding favorites), and novels by Jeffrey Eugenides, Tom Perrotta, and Margaret Atwood (especially "Middlesex", "Election", and "The Handmaid's Tale").
