About meI am an Adult Services Librarian with a strong interest in Readers Advisory. I'm interested in connecting people with books — fiction or nonfiction — whichever they want.

Currently, I am an Adult Services Librarian at Naperville Public Library (NPL) in Naperville, IL. I am responsible for maintaining the adult fiction collection at the Naper Blvd. location. From 2001 to 2006, I worked as a Readers Advisor for Indian Prairie Public Library (IPPL) in Darien, IL. I am also a member of the Adult Reading Round Table and its Steering Committee. I am currently participating in the ARRT two-year Crime Fiction Genre Study.

I love learning about almost anything. The main constant in my life has been books and libraries.

Share and Enjoy!

If you apologize for your reading tastes, you are really apologizing for your freedom.

About my libraryBecause I am a librarian who loves providing readers advisory services, not all the books in my library are books I have read out of personal desire. I tend to prefer genre fiction, particularly those with resolved, happy endings.

My "reviews" are generally annotations, not critiques. My text will (almost) always try to highlight the positive reasons to appreciate the book, not be a critical review of the text or its worth.

However, my star ratings are based on my personal likes and dislikes:
5 stars -- Mandatory Reading (when I'm made dictator of the universe)
4.5 stars -- Excellent enough to warrant rereading
4 stars -- Very Good
3 stars -- Good
2 stars -- Not my thing, but OK
1 star -- Forced myself to finish or couldn't finish

I read a lot of audiobooks, so I can read and do other things simultaneously. Narrators I really love are:
Joyce Bean
Scott Brick
Eric Conger -- good for hard-boiled stories with male leads
Jim Dale
Jayne Entwistle -- excellent with British accents
Susan Ericksen
Justine Eyre -- excellent with British accents
George Guidall
Dick Hill -- adds noir, hard-boiled tones
Michael Kramer
James Marsters
Frank Muller
Davina Porter
