About meI love reading books, I love talking about books, and I love librarything.com!

About my libraryMost of my library consists of classics, poetry, and historical fiction. And I don't own all these books, these are all books that I have read. Wherever I live when I'm an adult (London, preferably) I plan on having an enormous Beauty and the Beast-library complete with stained-glass windows and staircases. My favorite authors are C.S.Lewis, Kathryn Lasky and Alexandre Dumas.

And my profile pic is of Edna St. Vincent Millay, who was amazing.

It's a lot of fun, and I've gotten a lot of books that way! Classics are especially easy to find on BookMooch, PaperBackSwap has newer books, in general. Of course you're welcome to borrow the Forster book, shall I bring it tomorrow?

I haven't read that Charlotte Bronte book you mentioned, incidentally...
Those are books that I have listed on trading sites, either BookMooch.com or PaperBackSwap.com. If you see anything you want in there you can have it... Not everything is listed there, some stuff never even made it into my LT.
I emailed you on the 23rd of last month.
I send it to you again though.
Well, thanks! Typically I'm a bit more formal when it comes to my review writing, but I just couldn't help myself.
Hey! I've been down with allergies lately... like having the flu for a week.

I haven't read most of the books you mentioned... I own a lot more than I've read. (The tag "unread" is, well, the ones that are as yet unread.) I have the complete Brothers Grimm and Complete Hans Christian Anderson, I love both of them! I read them a bit at a time.

The first Eragon book was really, really good. Unfortunately the second one, Eldest, wasn't quite as good... and the third one was truly terrible and unreadable.
I've been really busy with school. Sorry.

I have read some good books lately. If you really want to know what they are then.......

The first two were: 'Twilight' and 'New Moon' by Stephenie Meyer.
I've also read a book called: 'The Looking Glass Wars' by Frank Beddor.
And, right now, I'm reading: 'Seeing Redd' by Frank Beddor.

All of them were really good. So far, 'Seeing Redd' is really good too.
Hi! Thanks for commenting on my page ^_^ I'm glad you liked my Chevalier reviews!

As for the Narnia books, I should have written a review when I read them, but didn't get around to it I think... it's been a couple years since I've read them and I don't know if I could give them a proper review =(
No hurry, ooh cool, oooh I would LOVE to borrow the C.S. Lewis book. I don't know of anything specific for the biographies you asked for... a quick search of the library catalog showed a lot of books about Medicis and Cleopatra, nothing about Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema, and nothing about Hans Christian Anderson except his stories. (I do have a complete collection of Hans Christian Anderson fairy tales, if you haven't read them.)
No hurry about bringing the book back, Thursday's fine. Let me know if you want me to send you anything... I've also got the first two books of the Prydain Chronicles that I was telling you about, and who knows what else. If you have The Hunchback of Notre Dame, why don't you send it over? I'll try to read it sometime soon, anyway. It's just never crossed my path yet.
Wow, I'd guessed a lot less than you did! I read it really fast too though, I usually don't guess much when I'm so caught up in the moment. I loved the book because the premise was so original... I've never read a book about a poison taster before, never met a character quite like Yelena, or found a fantasy world quite like hers. And the intensity is really rare. I've got the second two parts of the trilogy... do you want to read them? (Fair warning, I haven't read the third book yet and the second isn't quite as original as the first.)

Yes, I'm still working on my book. I try to write something every day, be it a review of something, a short story, school paper, or a section of the book. I'm nearly a third of the way through with the first draft.
I will read it. I promise.
I don't know why people would want to marry him. Ugh.
What is AWTR?
No, I haven't heard of Atonement. What is it?
Sorry this is so short and late.
I haven't had internet for a few days.
And, I just woke up, so, I'm not actually alive yet!
You like Pavarotti, don't you? I just saw that PBS will be showing a program called Pavarotti: A Life in Seven Arias on Wednesday at 7:00 PM, if you're interested.
Mr. Bowsher likes Anna Karenina? I'll have to read it, I have a copy somewhere... what did the guy think of The Golden Compass and The Giver that got you into an argument?

Sorry, I've never heard of Angela's Ashes, what's it about? I just finished Beast by Peter Benchley, a fantastic thriller, and am about to start either Singularity by William Sleator... not really sure what it's about but that's William Sleator... or my Early Reviewer book from August. Speaking of which, I picked up a tip on the ER board that maybe if you apply for a lot of books you have a better chance of getting one. I always apply for anything I might possibly be interested in, because hey, it's free! Anyway, this month I applied for about ten books, but I really want the Casanova biography...
Okay... first search for the author under the "search" tab. Then select the author you're looking for. There should be a list of books by the author at the top of the screen, under the heading "Books by [insert name]." Scroll down a few headings to the one called "Member Favorites." There should be a list of any members who have the author listed as a favorite, and under the list there's a link that looks like this... (add to your favorites). Click that. Got it?

In other news... do you think Breakfast at Tiffany's counts as American history?
I read Murder in the Cathedral today! I enjoyed it, but I don't think I knew enough about the event to really get the full impact. Do you know of any other good books about Becket?
I'm glad you liked the book! Luckily, I always drink Dr Pepper and Root Beer. :) I'm glad you liked the list... Bridges liked it too, and now he wants a list of books that are about AMERICAN history. Most of the ones I could think of were boring...

I've read bits and pieces of The Picture of Dorian Gray and I own it, but I haven't read the whole thing. I've read The Importance of Being Earnest several times...
Hey! You read a lot of the books I read when I was younger! I loved the Girls of Many Lands books, Carolyn Meyer books, and Dear America books! Awesome!
I will read Narnia.....one day. I'll try to read it soon though. Not making any promises!

Trust me, no skin of my teeth. If I never saw the movies before I read them, I don't think that I would've ever thought about reading them. Except 'A Walk to Remember', but, I would've read that because of Mandy Moore.

I haven't even seen 'Batman Begins'. I do want to though. But, you have got to see The Dark Knight whenever it comes out. If you don't, then I will make you!

Glad you like it, because I love it. Why are you thinking about changing yours?
I love Oscar Wilde, by the way. :) Also making lists.

Here's mine as it stands now...

1. My Antonia - Willa Cather
2. Goodbye, Mr. Chips - James Hilton (I really think I've read this before, but I can't remember...)
3. A Tale of Two Cities - Dickens (I just had to. I HAD to.)
4. Howard's End - E. M. Forster
5. Rebecca - Daphne du Maurier
6. The Scarlet Pimpernel - Baroness Orczy
7. Inside the Walls of Troy - Clemence McLaren (About the siege of Troy from Helen and Cassandra's perspectives. I read it a long time ago and it was excellent.)
8. Mara, Daughter of the Nile - Eloise Jarvis McGraw (About Egypt under Hatshepsut.)

And a bunch of others that I wasn't sure about so decided to cut first... What do you think?
Actually, I haven't read Narnia yet. I have the book with all of the Narnia stories in it, just, I never got around to reading it. I always get stuck reading something else. Like, right now, I'm reading the Riley Jenson Guardian series by Keri Arthur. But, I did watch, and have, the first Narnia movie, and loved it.

Why would you make me mad about Nicholas Sparks? I've only read 'A Walk to Remember' and 'The Notebook'. The only reason that I read them was because I saw the movies and wanted to read the books.

The only Batman movie that I have ever seen was 'The Dark Knight'. The reason I saw it was because when I watched the commercials for it, the Joker looked awesome. And, now, 'The Dark Knight' is my favorite movie. I hate that Heath Ledger died. He was such a great Joker.
Great, thanks! I'm still working on narrowing down my list, so I'll probably just give it to him on Sunday.

I've been angsting about Tale of Two Cities since Sunday! I LOVE that book, but I think it's too obvious... I mean, a lot of people read it for school anyway, I want to make the best use of my recommendations as possible. :) So I can't decide... I think my list is going to end up longer than the five or six books he actually asked for. Maybe a list, and a list of alternates? Once I've narrowed a little more maybe you can help me pick. I'd give you the list now, but my room is full of bug spray and if I open the door my cat will run in there and be poisoned or whatever.

Anyway. Rambling. It was over a year ago that I last read any Eliot, so I'll definitely try out Murder in the Cathedral before I write him off. Thanks for sending the books :).
I do love Beauty and the Beast. I fell in love with the library when I first saw it. I think I might watch Beauty and the Beast in a minute.

Librarything is very addictive. I love it.

I do like reviews. Gives me something to do at 4 in the morning. Lol.

Well, the pic is a icon that I found on photobucket. It's two of the characters from a anime called Death Note (the best show ever!). I also love what it says on the icon: Play me no more songs. Tell me no more lies.
He wanted them for high schoolers, and I think he was looking for more classics than otherwise. Things geared toward historical periods, that would appeal to girls more than boys. He didn't want any Jane Austen or obvious things like that... I didn't think to ask if he wanted multiple historical periods or if he just wanted recent history, so I'm putting down a variety of stuff.

I'm afraid I don't like T.S. Eliot very much... I read some of his poetry and was pretty bored. Maybe I would like his prose?
Hey MK, before I forget, those books we were talking about...

The Book of Three is the first of the Prydain Chronicles, by Lloyd Alexander.

And darnit, I've already forgotten the other one. Well, if you remember what it was about remind me.

Also, I wondered if you had any recommendations for those books Bridges was asking about. I think you read more historical fiction than I do. :) Off to browse your library...
I do like the site, even though I haven't been on much. I like to keep up with what I've read and what I haven't. But, I'll join it once I move to Alabama. Most of my books are about witches, vampires, werewolfs, etc. While your books are about.....well, whatever they are about. Haha.
Honestly, it was a toss up between him and Sappho and Wilde only won because he's infinitely more quotable.
ha! found you.
I LOVE Till We Have Faces! LOVE! I know Mr. Lewis thought it was the best thing he'd ever written, and I agree with him. I've only read it once, pretty recently, but I need to reread it...
