Morning Poem

Every morning
the world
is created.
Under the orange

sticks of the sun
the heaped
ashes of the night
turn into leaves again

and fasten themselves to the high branches ---
and the ponds appear
like black cloth
on which are painted islands

of summer lilies.
If it is your nature
to be happy
you will swim away along the soft trails

for hours, your imagination
alighting everywhere.
And if your spirit
carries within it

the thorn
that is heavier than lead ---
if it's all you can do
to keep on trudging ---

there is still
somewhere deep within you
a beast shouting that the earth
is exactly what it wanted ---

each pond with its blazing lilies
is a prayer heard and answered
lavishly,
every morning,

whether or not
you have ever dared to be happy,
whether or not
you have ever dared to pray.

Wa alaikum salam Jillian,

That's fantastic, Masha-Allah!

What does he speak about? Is it mainly conversion stories? I haven't found any books by him in South Africa, which is so disappointing.

Believe me, if Prof Lang were to offer a talk, I wouldn't wait for an invite! Based on his conversion story, he should be an articulate and amazingly inspiring speaker! I forget, he must be quite a good age by now, eh? Let me know more about his talks, when you have a moment!

Warm regards,
Akeela
Wa alaikum salam, Jillian

Thanks for the lovely duas!

Hey, Dr Lang should be quite dynamic! You're very fortunate to hear him first hand! Do let me know how it goes!

Have an excellent month, Insha-Allah!

Ramadan karim,
Akeela
Hi Jillian

Just wondering how you are! Have you read anything great lately?

Best wishes,
Akeela
Thank you, Jill. I enjoyed Chris Rice's book, although I didn't expect to. I'm so sorry for taking so long to respond. Been very busy lately--my BookMooch rating even went down (lol). Anyway, I'm glad to see you here. LibraryThing is one of my favorite sites. How have you been doing in your part of the world, mon amie? --Marc
Thanks for your friendship! I look forward to checking out your books and hope you enjoy mine.
I have always, always wished I had the patience to learn to knit... it's the casting on that always turns me off! Someday, though.

Anyway, I just noticed that you're a member of BookMooch, and learning Arabic, also, so I thought I'd say hi. :)

Hi, Jill. Thank YOUUUUUUUUUUUU! It's wonderful when something like BX'ing or BookMooch really works. I've just started reading the book and it's lovely so far. I hope you're doing great in Phoenix. ;-)
You are very welcome - and thank you for your kind words. I have often been dependent on such sites as the newspapers and the publishing industry do not spend much effort promoting it.
Hello! I apologize for not having answered sooner. I have to rely on public access computers since I do not have internet & they have been having issues with theirs at the library since they did updates over a week ago.

I do not know when I will ever get all of my library logged. The estimate I am telling everyone at this time is about twenty years!

I have sorted through some of my books & will be adding them to trading sites this week.

Have a blessed day,

selkie
:)
