Great minds, and all that.

You're not alone. I disliked A Very Private Grave too, pretty much for the same reasons you did. I wrote my review in Word, got happy with it, then read all the reviews out there at that time. All were positive, so I thought, "Oh well, just me being different again". You posted your review after I saw the reviews and before I posted mine.
