I loved Uhtred in the Last Kingdom. He became very arrogant in The Pale Horseman and started to annoy me, but I like that about Cornwell's characters. They're flawed.

Martin is definitely worth it. He is the best in fantasy I've read. If you want to read flawed characters where it's difficult to know who to cheer for, Martin is great. His strengths are his characters and his sheer storytelling ability. Amazing, in my opinion. I haven't found too many who have been disappointed, but there are a few, naturally.

Back to Cornwell real quick: how did you like Lords of the North? I'm planning to read it a little later this year. Also, which is your favorite Cornwell series? I've yet to read his Arthurian series, but I hear those are great as well.
Always nice to find other fans of Cornwell. I'm currently finishing up the Saxon Chronicles. Still have Lords of the North and Sword Song to read.
